(31,109 posts)He is a shit lawyer and if he goes up against anyone who knows what they are doing, will lose.

(2,050 posts)The caliber of "The Best People" the dumpf hires, when confronted by real lawyers and that thing called "The Truth" or "Logic" they'll either fold or participate willingly in their own humiliation.
Makes me smile.

(23,078 posts)I will be absolutely astounded if the interview actually airs. Now, I'd love love to see it and still have a shred of hope that the nation will hear her interview and even hopefully see ugly pix too.

(30,724 posts)has a great deal more power than 45 and his crew. Even those who still support 45 are getting tired of all the mess he creates. They are almost certainly working against him behind the scenes, even if they are hypocritical and greedy enough to get all they can while he is in office.

(23,078 posts)No one but a gold digger would voluntarily have sex with him, never. I just love that the grifting profiteering money monger could get exposed by a woman with similar characteristics. Karma. Plus his base needs to see ugly pictures of him, they are too stupid to get the actual horror of his words, but think they'd get it to see his naked corpulent self weakly having sex. He doesn't want to look weak and that's why he's fighting so hard. He doesn't care about the rest, just her divulging how awfully weak he is in bed and the pix.

(58,785 posts)but he is an attorney. Interesting that the NDA (a new acronym for our vocabularies) is sloppily written (it was apparently a standard document presented to all designated females). And this crew is going up against Mueller's!
And Cohen probably thought she was an airhead and wouldn't notice that the NDA was "sloppily written". Intimidating women seems to be Cohen's specialty. I think they greatly underestimated this woman.

(58,785 posts)in completely over their heads. Trump hired thugs, with licenses to practice law just useful paper, to intimidate women, threaten creditors into accepting 30 cents on the dollar, negotiate contracts with mobsters, and figure out tax dodges. They're hopelessly incompetent up against the real thing but haven't told him.
As for Stormy, she's good, but she has the fourth estate on her side, as well as a competent attorney.
Btw, did you hear Trump just tried to hire a real attorney, the kind who represents presidents? He was turned down -- again. Four such firms in DC, and none will touch him.

Some reputable institutions are just paper mills, open the the highest bidders. Demeans everyone including their own "graduates."

(58,785 posts)they tend to do lower than expected on tests measuring moral/ethical IQ (or however it was actually stated). Seems that they're trained to examine words for how they can be turned into tools to achieve their goals, their intended meaning often irrelevant or a problem to be gotten around, and over time this tools mentality can move beyond examining contracts into other spheres of life.

(52,163 posts)each party is meant to have vigorous advocacy, and a judge/jury/arbitrator are meant to see the appropriate facts and arguments and determine an appropriate and ethical outcome.
the *process* is designed to be ethical and have an ethical outcome.
individually, the lawyers are supposed to advocate vigorously for their own client's perspective. they are not really supposed to advocate for a fair outcome. that's not their role in the process. they can negotiate for that with the other lawyer, but they're supposed to advocate for their client.
in fact, a lawyer's ethical duty is to the client and they can be disciplined and even disbarred for failing in that, in an effort to do something that's more fair to the other side.
I think some ceo's do unethical things for similar reasons -- they're taught to believe their ethical duty is solely in making profit for shareholders. so they end up screwing customers or innocent bystanders in order to maximize profit. it's ethical by the approach to ethics they've been taught.

(47,351 posts)out of a gangster flick. I can't even imagine how they got through law school or passed the bar. They don't really know the law, they know how the threaten and intimidate. I think Cohen has watched too many episodes of The Sopranos. Apparently in a rare moment of clarity, Trump realized it as well when he reached out to a "real" lawyer, who was smart enough to turn him down. Or someone in his inner circle advised him that he was not well served with his current bunch of clowns.
Looking forward to Sunday night.
