The midterms are a seven and a half months away. Let's use the Bolton hire to help win back the Senate and House.

1. Bolton WANTS to wage war against Iran. This is well known. He's a wacko guy. He REALLY wants to wage war against Iran.

2. Trump KNOWS and therefore APPROVES of Bolton wanting to wage war rather than diplomacy. And specifically against Iran, for "regime change." (That's what we did in Iraq supposedly.)

3. The mid-terms are coming up. Trump may be banking on this: If we get into a war, this would be a big distraction for the mid-terms. Voters may not want to change leadership in the Senate or House at a time of war. That is a common response. Because of this, the Republicans in the House & Senate MIGHT go along with a war, when faced with their extermination in the Senate & House, in the hopes that voters will run to the polls to vote for the "strong" Republicans saving America from the bad Iranians.

4. Result may be that Republicans do much better in the mid-terms, Trump gets his war distraction from the Mueller investigation. Mueller may find it more difficult to continue his investigation in a time of war. And maybe Trump will even be able to get away with firing Mueller, with no one willing to fight it, since we are busy with a war.

Mission accomplished? It's not that complicated a plan, really. And maybe this is just in the back of some people's minds at this point, as a "maybe." And we know that Trump's personality would allow him to do this. I mean...he thinks it's not a big deal that Putin murders people. That humiliating and destroying people's lives is no big deal, as long as it benefits him. He likes fighting, disagreement, chaos. He is perhaps not mentally well.
