Always Something There to Remind You

Despite the unmitigated disaster that is the Trump debacle, there is one silver lining: as Trump goes down, he’s taking the Republican party with him. And he is going down.

It was the GOP who elected this treasonous, lying idiot – and it’s the GOP who have supported and defended him. Some have simply chosen to look the other way; others have gone so far as to perjure themselves in order to protect him.

But in the doing, you have exposed yourselves as weak-minded, spineless, and easily led. You have demonstrated your self-serving greed, and your complete disregard for the citizens you were elected to represent. You have displayed an absolutely stunning lack of morals and ethics, to the point where even your so-called “Christian leaders” have abandoned the very principles they – and you – once claimed as sacrosanct.

You have plunged the nation into unprecedented debt. You have handed obscene tax-breaks to the wealthy while tossing crumbs to the hard-working middle-class – and you have actually flaunted your own misuse of taxpayer dollars to fund personal vacations, unnecessary travel, and extravagant office furnishings.

But above all else, you have consistently chosen to remain silent as your “pResident” spirals out of control, as the fact of his incompetence becomes increasingly apparent, and as the evidence of his crimes mounts daily.

Your conduct has not gone unnoticed. On the contrary; it has been spotlighted for all to see, especially your craven disregard not only for your fellow citizens, but your country.

So that’s the story – and it’s a story that won’t be distracted from, won’t be dismissed as “fake news”, and won’t be forgotten by the next news cycle. And that’s because we Democrats will be reminding everyone – as often, as passionately, and as loudly as possible – that when it came down to choosing between a treasonous madman and the security and well-being of your own country, you unhesitatingly chose the madman.

We will be there – along with all decent patriots who love their country – to remind our fellow voters exactly what Republicans stand for, and how they fucked their countrymen rather than take a stand against the lies, the traitorous behaviour, and the in-your-face corruption of your "pResident" and his administration.

There are, of course, many well-worn “best words” that you will now no longer be able to use to sway the masses. The term “party of fiscal responsibility” died the day you voted to increase the national debt in order to appease your wealthy donors with tax breaks. The “party of good Christian values” died the day you championed a self-declared pussy-grabber. The “party of law and order” died the day you chose to defend the criminal in the White House, along with his criminal cohorts. And the “party of American patriotism” died – literally – the day you chose to put a Putin stooge in the Oval Office, and decided to ignore that fact for your own political benefit.

Inevitably, the truth will out, and all will be revealed. And given where the country is at right now, I don’t think any after-the-fact apologies will be accepted.

You are who you are, and always have been. We suspected it for decades – but thanks for confirming your willingness to stoop even lower than even we ever imagined.

That (R) behind your name is no longer a draw, or even a defence - it's a liability. And we'll be here for many, many years to come, reminding everyone exactly why.

If only there was a way to deluge every R’s office from dogcatcher to Speaker of the House with your astute excoriation.

on every Republican office holder's website and social media page? We alone from DU could flood Republican offices with this message.

Nance, do we have your permission?
