(115,659 posts)that he's super powerful and could shut down the government if he wanted. So it's only on account of his benevolence that the government won't be shut down and all those Deep State people can collect their paychecks.

(82,849 posts)Odd, though, that the Republicans aren't all up in arms about reading the bill anymore. Remember back in 2010? All those totally spontaneous and not-at-all-subsidized Tea Bagger demonstrations about Congress shoving legislation down the throats of the American people, legislation that nobody had read or had a chance to analyze? Those magic charter buses that materialized to bring those frothing crowds before teevee cameras so everyone could chant, "Read the bill!"? Oh, how Fox and CNBC devoted endless hours of coverage to these concerned citizens and their professionally printed signs that they all coincidentally had on hand to stage their spur-of-the-moment demonstrations.
Nowadays? Not even the crickets are chirping about this spending bill that nobody's read. In the days, weeks and months to come, we'll be treated to all the little Easter eggs that were hidden deep in the recesses of the spending bill. Self-writing legislation that just happens to put more money into the overstuffed pockets of Republican campaign bankrollers. Nobody will know how it happened, who wrote those provisions, or how they snuck into the final bill.
