(14,167 posts)Every day this chaos further's Putin's plan.
Every day our country gets a bit weaker. We are no longer the leaders of the free world.
Our economy is being destroyed after being rebuilt in the previous administration.
Our democracy is being destroyed.
Our voting process is being decimated.
Maybe to put it in the simplest of terms, we should ask the Cult of Trump to watch Captain America: Civil War. Pretty much the same concept.

(58,785 posts)among ultrawealthy conservatives. They're the same sorts those who came before us finally defeated in the 1930s. Mostly just by finally voting to say no to them and electing and reelecting FDR.
I mention them because IMO they're far, far, far more of a threat to us than Russia. We'd have kicked that adventuring criminal running that pissant country into a yurt in central Asia if our domestic plotters didn't find his exporting of corruption to join theirs and attacks on democracy to join theirs useful.

(14,490 posts)Americans are kept busy with the sensationalized issues of the Mercer's and Trump's corruption and money trails (which Mr. Mueller will take care of), but the real elephant in the room is the billions that the global wealthy pour into slowly debasing and destroying our foundations of government - at local, state and federal levels. They are a patient bunch and have been doing this for decades but the volume got turned up 10X after Citizens United.
Organizations such as Heritage Foundation, ALEC, News Corp. (Murdoch) and dozens more are doing far more long-term damage that Putin could dream of. He is, however, a very useful accomplice and accelerates the process.
Throwing the 2016 election just knocked off 10 to 20 years off their Master Plan.

(10,828 posts)There's no way to minimize this mess or pretend that the Trumpster wasn't a willing vessel for a very complicated plot to assault democratic governance, not only here but around the world.
He signed on and will be held accountable. Along with the rest.

(33,328 posts)TrumPutin is too narcissitic to be a puppet, but he's definitely Putin's tool and operating in furtherance of Vlad's plans.
The GOP is likewise a tool, except they are wielded more by our own oligarchs than by Putin. Or, at least, so far as we know at this time.
Biggest existential threat to the U.S. since the Civil War; biggest existential threat to democracies worldwide since World War II.

Reality though is quite consistent. Assume the worst, and 9 out of 10 Times trump will do it

(37,648 posts)No, it wouldn't be Trump's plan. But he's surrounded by snakes who can put together a strategic plan. It's not that complicated, if it's based mainly on surprise.
