Former VP Joe Biden surprises Delaware March for Our Lives rally

https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.usatoday.com/amp/455760002

Heard Joe Lewis also interjected himself into his local March For Our Lives. Is it DUs position that only young people speak at these events (not oldsters like Bernie or Joe?) Do we hate the Joes now?

Just trying to clarify things after some epic threads this week

Loved my local march. A thousand+ attended in a deep red area. Lead speaker was an elderly local activist minister whose deeply immersed in establishing citizen oversight boards for police departments, who also hugely boosted the high school speaker who followed her. Our march was a true melting pot of old, seasoned, young, inexperienced, white, brown, black, lgbtq, religious and not. I was humbled to see the unity.

It's time to stop the divisiveness

I wouldn’t read a lot into. Joe has been a fixture at public events in our small state for decades.

If a member of our DC delegation doesn’t show up at the Newark Halloween Parade, people would be like “where is he?”

If a community center is cutting a ribbon, Joe shows up with his own scissors.

I saw he and Jill getting out of the car in the field for parking at the Delaware State Fair years ago. He just parked in the field like everyone else.

Saw the governor at a department store and passed the Chief Justice on the street.

From a pro-gun site, Jan. 2017: "Delaware lawmakers announce ‘Beau Biden’ gun control act"
http://www.guns.com/2018/01/17/delaware-lawmakers-announce-beau-biden-gun-control-act/

From CNN, Dec. 2012: "On gun control, look to Biden"
https://www.cnn.com/2012/12/19/opinion/buckwalter-poza-biden/index.html

Over the past four decades, Biden has been one of the most consistent and effective advocates of gun control and violence prevention legislation. In 1994, Biden shepherded the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act through the Senate, a near miracle six years in the making. After Biden wrote the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act in 1988, Republicans quickly filibustered, blocking the bill for four years. He steered "the Biden crime bill" through the lengthy filibuster by negotiating with Republicans and making revisions.
.....
The resulting legislation banned the manufacture of 19 types of semi-automatic firearms and criminalized the possession of high-capacity magazines.
.....
Unfortunately, the assault weapons ban expired in 2004. Since then, numerous lawmakers, including Joe Biden, have tried and failed to get the ban renewed.

It's his big issue. Bernie on the other hand. . .

even though his voting record on gun safety is stellar.

And he's always doing this in Delaware, even when he isn't heading into re-election.
