2. watching and still it makes me hurt how messed up the USA is/was

3. Im watching with you and remembering....

And feeling the same dread and disgust towards the people in the south who were so terrible on camera. I think my family watched this together every night and my wonderful parents discussed with us why this was so dangerous and wrong. We knew this existed up north as well, and we were taught to never let ourselves be this way. I do remember my Grandfather saying about MLK, “they are going to kill him some day”. My mother implored him not to say that. We were a white family from a rural area and we were surrounded by other whites, but my mother in particular was determined that we would accept the other.

showed Charlottesville, the same sick mindset is still plaguing the South.
