Chick-fil-A has made negative headlines recently for being anti-gay when the president of the fast food chain stated his personal disapproval of homosexuality. Not only did the restaurant receive harsh criticism but local officials have denounced support of the business opening its doors in various cities.
Alderman Joe Moreno of Chicago, claims that unless the company comes up with a written anti-discrimination policy, Chick-fil-A will not open its first free-standing restaurant in the city as it has intentions of doing.
Now the popular restaurant is facing gender discrimination charges in addition to being labeled as discriminating based on sexual preferences. Brenda Honeycut claims that the owner and operator of Duluth, Georgia's Chick-fil-A fired her so she could be a "stay home mother."
Although Honeycut had "satisfactory-to-above-satisfactory" employment history with the company, owner Jeff Howard routinely made comments to the plaintiff suggesting that as a mother she should stay home with her children according to PerezHilton.
Chick-fil-A is not winning over the many stay-at-home mothers who are likely to eat at the establishment. The choice to be a stay at home mother is hardly the business of a restaurant manager. Honeycut was eventually replaced by a male employee.

(7,776 posts)Or was it the idiocy of one franchise owner?
Did she file a complaint or contact upper management about this incident?
If so... what was the outcome/response she received?

(79,293 posts)The lawsuit, which was obtained by GLAAD, refers to a June 27, 2011, incident in which Jeff Howard, the owner and operator of a Duluth, Ga., Chick-fil-A, fired Honeycutt so she could be a "stay home mother."
According to the document, Howard held meetings without Honeycutt present and eventually replaced her with a male employee. Her termination is allegedly part of a pattern of gender discrimination "against female employees" at the Duluth establishment.

(7,776 posts)file a grievance or complaint with Howards superiors/upper management so that corrective action could be taken?
Be it reinstatement of the plaintiffs and/or disciplinary action against Howard?
There's nothing in the documents that states if she took that course of action.
Sounds to me like he did what he did based on his own accord.
If any of the charges turn to to be accurate... Howard is fooked.
Chick-Fil-A? They're off the hook on this one.

(4,517 posts)They don't own the property, they don't own the building, they basically own nothing and are basically glorified managers.
Just an interesting thing I found out about the chain. I think they're actually supposed to be called operators or something.

(51,666 posts)white trash roots (as she rolls her eyes), has eaten Chik-Fil-A sandwiches and says that you literally get a breaded, unseasoned piece of chicken between the halves of an unadorned white bun. No mayo, no sauce, lettuce, tomato, cheese, or anything else. She can't figure out why in god's name ANYONE would eat there.
