It's quite sad, because they've abandoned many values they claimed....

..... society needs to realize who is the make up of this group.... It goes all the way back into the Confederacy, and these are the Conservative Evangelicals, who were supporters of slavery, and they were many of the people who made up the conflict in the streets attacking Civil Rights Marchers, and they were the people who stood around schools trying to stop integration.
Many are people who believe in white privilege, but won't always say it, but if they think anything will infringe upon white privilege, they will oppose and may even attack it. They don't believe in full Equality, for if they did, they'd abandon the want of white privilege and they'd certainly abandon bigotry, bias and segregationist ideals, and they would not be associated with white nationalist agenda. These are many who think "all American's should judge themselves based on the level of "how white privilege" thinks.... and many think when it comes to minorities... Oh' its ok if you want to think you are equal, but don't dare think of denying us white privilege!!!! that's why they think they are some model, that others should emulate.
the white privilege thing goes back centuries and decades, and one only has to go research to see the nature and mentality, and good examples is go to youtube and look at some of the attackers of Civil Rights Marchers in the 1960's.

Falwell is explicitly and proudly saying that white evangelicals voted for Trump not in spite of his racist and xenophobic rhetoric, but because of it.

This is why they ignore Trump's numerous infidelities, his x-rated language not suitable for your 7 year-old, and the fact that his House of Worship is the golf course. They adore this sorry excuse for a human being as if he were the second coming.

They are all fools who are doing their best to destroy our democracy (or what's left of it).
