Hundreds of thousands of people gathered in Washington, D.C., and in cities across the country to call for stricter gun laws and call out politicians who have received funding and support from the National Rifle Association. Polling shows that most Americans support the marchs calls for gun reform.
Predictably, right-wing pundits went after billionaire George Sorosconservative activists favorite bogeymanin an effort to minimize the legitimacy of the protests. Breitbart radio host Joel Pollak said it was no surprise that the march was a Soros production. The sites sports editor Dylan Gwinn said that we all know that these kids are being coached.
Conspiracy theorist Alex Jones said that teenager-led March for Our Lives marches were scripted and funded by the Democrats and said that the welfare queens attending the rallies all look mentally ill. Infowars editor-at-large Paul Joseph Watson wrote that the real agenda behind the March for Our Lives rallies was the end of the Second Amendment, by force if necessary.
Feeding into the claims that the march had been orchestrated by liberal mega-donors, Pro-Trump media troll Jack Posobiec live-streamed video of the buses that some activists had used to travel to D.C., reporting on the shocking detail that organizers had coordinated with security staff to park the buses in a secure area. He encouraged viewers to call the companies that owned the buses to find out who had hired them.

(100,063 posts)Just at the next rally hang a giant "Executive produced and funded by George Soros" sign, and have actual buses full of people arrive at the rallies with red carpets, it would blow their minds!

(73,630 posts)AS a matter of fact, the next time I happen across some RWNJ troll, I'll just ask him if he has any time to hear about "Our Lord and Savior, George Soros."
I'm sure that they won't be bothering me for long after that.

(14,302 posts)That deadbeat is about ten rallies behind.
The whole Soros conspiracy theory was invented because the snowflake right cant deal with the fact that millions of people willingly give their time and energy to this cause not for money but because they believe in it. That should scare them, and it does. The conspiracy theory is easier for them to swallow.
And being told by Alex Jones that you look mentally ill is ... something.

(37,748 posts)Public sentiment is turning in favor of the youth movement, and there's a lot of people invested in seeing it go no further, pontificating on polls non-reflective of the here and now.
This week has seen the pro-weapon industry talking points go out, getting them on the same page and the same mind, and of one voice. We can clearly see those points infiltrating even progressive enclaves.
Giggle at them with bemusement... for they are fighting mere children, and losing.
