Lets think about some forgotten victims of the shootings
The siblings.
Goodbye college fund (spent for a funeral or medical care, or both)
So what can they do?
Try to find a cheaper college/vo-tech program that will give them a chance of earning a decent living? And be able to pay the debt off in 10 years or so, so they can then try to have children?

(102,225 posts)is wonderful and I suspect there are some that really need that help, the need for those still struggling with medical bills is probably first and foremost. Take the young hero, who is the only one still hospitalized with five gunshot wounds after saving the lives of others. He thus far has raised 750 K in his gofundme page, but that pales into comparison with the extent of medical bills and that required (assuming he does survive) for rehab and future medical care. He does not come from a wealthy family, at all. (There is a link on the thread that includes a interview with his Latino father)

There is no shortage of need, I'm sure. But, just as the Parkland kids pointed out at the DC march, they come from a largely privileged community, compared to the victims of inner cities like DC, Chicago, LA.
I have to wonder how we could help them as well?
