If not, are you planning to?
I've sent piddly amounts to Obama, Elizabeth Warren and my dem congressman. If I can afford it, I will donate more, but I'm wondering if it's making a dent.

(149,516 posts)I suspect the ones to Sherrod Brown are helping; I'm not so sure about the amounts I've sent to Obama.

(4,404 posts)Not much, but what I can. It seems like nothing compared to the millions the right wing super pacs are giving.
But every little bit helps.

(2,593 posts)I only give to specific candidates, not the DNC or other organizations whose priorities may differ from mine.
I do not have a lot to give and, like you, I wonder if it will matter. With the billionaire brigade allowed to run wild, my small contribution seems insignificant. What a shame that our involvement in the political process has been diminished so.

I'll be hitting the phones for him and Obama starting in September.

(43,049 posts)Senator Gillibrand asks me to help out, and a few local candidates. And the local town & County Dem parties.
Rarely much, just a few bucks because I'm usually broke, but every nickel counts this year.
(But, I'm already in for one $100 ticket next month, and there's a $200 Bishop party I'd like to go to if I can swing it)

Like you, mine is just a drop in the bucket, but get enough of us drips together and you have an ocean.

We just moved, and I don't know our local candidates as well as I should. It's on my todo list to hook up with the county party and sign up for ferrying voters again this year.

(35,773 posts)Obama, definitely. My Congressional folks are safe, so, this year, it will go to the Presidential race, though we often give to pro or con for specific state ballot measures, as well. Then there are the city council and county people. It all depends on the candidate and the year.

(37,305 posts)and local reps along with a few hundred hours canvassing and sign waving. I've given smaller amounts to Obama and a Florida rep to show support.
But lately I've channeled my donations to the local food bank. It's hard to spend on advertising when people are going hungry.

(16,254 posts)I found that as soon as they got a check, they started calling every day. I'll save them the trouble and hold off until later. I will give to Obama, Warren and Sherrod. The Big Guys have taken all the fun out of the race. I don't feel my piddily amounts are even noticed and it certainly doesn't give me the feeling that I am one of the team.
I just consider any donations are an investment in my family's future comfort. If the Pugs win, life will be miserable for even more years to come.
