Rachel Maddow Delivers Chilling Warning: A Legal Hurricane Is About To Hit Trump
Rachel Maddow delivered a chilling warning to Donald Trump on Wednesday, addressing the president directly and saying that a legal hurricane could be on the verge of taking down his administration.
The MSNBC host pointed to new special counsel filings showing that Trumps campaign manager and deputy campaign manager were in frequent contact with Russian military intelligence.
Thats not us guessing at what the special counsel office is looking at, Maddow said. Thats them telling us what theyve got in court filings.
Video @ link:
Maddow said:
The new filings have reignited the collusion case
With much of the focus being on the obstruction aspect of Robert Muellers ongoing investigation, the court filings Maddow cited on Wednesday show that the special counsel is still aggressively tackling the collusion angle.
As the MSNBC host pointed out, this is no longer speculation. Mueller is telling us that hes investigating Trumps campaign manager and deputy campaign manager for direct ties with Russian intelligence in 2016.
In other words, Trumps repeated efforts to paint the Russia-collusion story as a hoax apparently havent worked on Robert Mueller.
Add this to the already-solid case that Trump has obstructed justice, and the President of the United States appears to be in some pretty serious legal trouble a legal hurricane, as Maddow ominously said on Wednesday.
Worse for the president: There is no legal team in place to protect him from it.

I see a bad moon a-rising
I see trouble on the way
I see earthquakes and lightnin'
I see bad times today
Don't go 'round tonight
It's bound to take your life
There's a bad moon on the rise
I hear hurricanes a-blowing
I know the end is coming soon
I fear rivers over flowing
I hear the voice of rage and ruin
Don't go 'round tonight
It's bound to take your life
There's a bad moon on the rise
I hope you got your things together
I hope you are quit prepared to die
Look's like we're in for nasty weather
One eye is taken for an eye
Oh don't go 'round tonight

(61,690 posts)They are inexperienced at real governing, but that is part of what they ran on. They are 14 months in. More than 25%. Almost every position should be filled with people who, by now, know how to do their jobs for the benefit of Americans and US policy. The fact that many cannot, is due to incompetency and a deep desire to see government fail, perhaps at the behest of Putin as well as their own warped ideas. They aren't young in their jobs, they are evil, have ill will, and malice.

(5,810 posts)This is a sh*t storm of epic proportions and yet, somehow...tRump seems to believe THIS is a good way to shake things up. To redesign the way we govern. Bull pucky....to quote Rachel. It is a cock and bull story to present to the uninformed, the gullible....his base. But those that know a thing or two about governance know this is a recipe for disaster. AND it is a way to keep things so off balance that tRump can loot the treasury and no one will be the wiser.
Little does he know that he has stepped into a much bigger arena than his little real estate scam he had going on. There are many more eyes on him, watching his every move. And they are much smarter than he is. The legendary status tRump thinks he has is mostly in his own mind and the minds of a few of his base. The rest of us know it is all smoke and mirrors.
Factor in the impact of his deal with Putin and tRumpolini has a ton of hurt about to cave in on him. I find it hard to work up any sympathy for him since this is all created by HIM in an attempt to enrich himself or inflate his net worth. By the time this is over, he may not be able to sell anything with his name on it. Besides, it might be kind of hard to run what is left of his empire from behind prison bars. Couldnt happen to a more deserving monster. I hope his base is paying attention....their hero is soon going to get more attention (scrutiny) than he bargained for.

NO MATTER WHAT THE EVIDENCE SHOWS, can you see this Trump voluntarily taking the stand? He will categorically deny everything on Twitter and double down. I'm getting very worried because the rule of law means NOTHING to this Trump.
I don't see him stepping down in any manner that doesn't involve bloodshed. That includes the 2020 election.

(14,558 posts)putting us into this position, both with 45 and the Rs in congress.
We have to hold our breathe:
1) That the POS does not take Mueller out prior to November.
2) That this country has the simple common sense to clean house in November in a BIG WAY.
3) With at minimum a D majority in the House, congress can start to do its part to shackle the POS.
4) That the country has the common sense to boot his arse in 2020.
It will take that long for Mueller to get to the point of actually being able to put the jackass on trail, and then we MIGHT see justice.

There will be no *gotcha* caught in the act UNLESS Gates makes an in court or public statement saying *YES, I did collude with Russia...these are the people who knew I was colluding....and I was encouraged to continue colluding with Russia*. We will know if/when this will happen when tRUMP starts badmouthing Gates as a liar, flunky coffee boy.
And in the end collusion is not a crime it seems. Our only hope to cuff these grifters is with State charges, perp walks and jail time.

(5,995 posts)If the Dems get big wins and take the Senate as well, an impeachment trial is possible and he won't be able to hide. With the possibility that Pence goes with him and Nancy (or any Dem) is in the wings as Speaker, they may opt to install Ryan for 2 years to try and lock in all their corruption.
That all assumes that there is still anything that approaches logic/sanity in the WH or GOP. Trump imagines himself as the greatest at everything, so him taking any strategic advice is doubtful, so we are likely to be swept along with the storm surge.

(3,557 posts)I can't wait to watch a great in-depth documentary about all the little nuances of the case when everything is said and done.
There are too many overlapping bits and pieces for me to keep track of. You've got trump with possible Russian mob ties, Manafort who used to work for the Ukrainians as a very pro-Russian advisor, the whole Rex Tillerson versus Mitt Romney thing - then Rex Tillerson being fired for suggesting we take a tougher stance on Russia, Petraus, Nunes, .... and more names and coincidences than I can recall. Oh yeah, the money from Russians into various campaigns and super-pacs,...
This thing is both scary and fascinating

(2,064 posts)The evidence that the Trump Campaign conspired with Russia is overwhelming.
The Brits and other EU nations uncover massive Russian interference in their elections.
They bring charges against Russian nationals and citizens who conspired with them to rig elections in Britain and around Europe.
And the conspiracy is so obvious that it breaks the right wing echo chamber.
Fox News has to tell the truth about it.
Hate radio cant explain it away.
The Republicans in Congress are stampeded in impeaching OrangeTurd because of the public outrage across the political spectrum.
And they get absolutely destroyed in the midterm elections anyway.
The real investigations start in Congress and the NRA is implicated in the conspiracy. A lot of right wing operatives, including a couple of billionaires and a couple of evangelical leaders end up in prison for espionage.
The Republican Party is exposed as a complete fraud and dissolves in disgrace.

(3,922 posts)I am becoming increasingly resigned to the long haul which will hopefully culminate in 2020.
Regarding the Stormy Daniels affair: the republicans and the #IPOTUS's base don't care. I think public opinion has basically concluded that this story is true, but - barring a credible expose of the harassment charges - this appears to be going nowhere fast. The election contribution violation theory is out there, but again, I don't see this as being enough to rid ourselves of the cancer.
The Mueller investigation: This one has some legs but this is far from over - some experts say that this could actually extend to after 2020! If the #IPOTUS is not directly implicated in a conspiracy or obstruction charge, this will go nowhere as well. Still, it's the best chance for a meaningful action - someday.
In the meantime, the economy could change for the worse and that seems to still be one of the most reliable motivations for voters. But who wants this? Many of us are getting older and depend on a relatively stable economy.
As we wait for something, anything, we are watching the country we love go to hell in a handbasket. The ruling party is doing exactly what they said they would do - dismantling civil liberties, safety nets, and changing the culture. Additionally, they are changing the dynamics of the fiscal health of the country, clearly for the worse. This will have long-lasting effects on all of us and could easily precipitate another republican economic crisis, which is their specialty.
The supporters of this clusterf#$k, once fringe voters, are emboldened and are clearly entering the mainstream in all areas of the society and culture.
Dark days for now, but things will/must change eventually.
