VA Problems Caused By Decades Of GOP SABOTAGE. 10,000 Jobs Unfilled At VA.

The GOP has sabotaged the VA so they can profitize it. They want to give their rich cronies care money for instance profits and pretty much reduce veterans care.

War matters. Those who served? Not so much.
Fetuses matter. Those who are born? Not so much.

The Republican Party doesn't care about actual people. It cares about something else entirely.

I was told that I was very qualified (I was) but I'd never get a job because I wasn't a VET (makes some sense, and I understood the bias -- but I was really, really qualified. It would be nice to have some flexibility).

The application process itself is so long - really arduous. Once you're in - you're golden (the pay is terrific). So, people who do get those jobs sit in them forever (most of them are qualified, of course - but some turn out to be turkeys......and it's so hard to fire them).

The federal hiring process self is arduous. The need to have a viable civil service system is sadly part of it. And you are correct the hiring process at VA most likely needs improvement. But we are in an era where we have GOP politicians who want to make the entire government a PATRONAGE system. Look at what Trump has don already.

Our government cannot function under the old patronage system. The GOP wants it all contracted out to crony donators.

Sorry for your experience. Being a vet I understand the bias in hiring but it should not be a major factor. Thee probably are not enough qualified vets to fill all the VA positions.
