On NOT building it alone(thinking about President Obama's remarks)

It also needs to be said that, even on the "private sector" side of the equation, nobody built a business(or got rich) exclusively on her or his own.

They STILL needed their employees to help build it...to be dependable, to be competent, to be physically and intellectually responsible for providing the goods or services that made "the individual" rich.

They STILL needed the employees of the other businesses they contracted to and with...to provide them with what they needed to provide in order for "the entrepreneur" to gain the wealth she or he eventually accumulated.

And they STILL needed the consumers(and, by extension, the labor the consumers performed providing goods and/or services to other people)to purchase the goods or services "the successful" provided.

In this economy, everything everybody does, at some level, is connected with everyone else. There is NO SUCH THING as a "self made" person.

And ultimately, anything that makes life worse for anyone who contributed to creating the wealth(such as layoffs, wage cuts, pension slashing)is an attack on the prosperity, dignity, and hopes of all of us.

And it's only in understanding and accepting this that we can avoid reducing our nation and our world to complete barbarism.
