The carefully maintained secrecy around President Trumps finances is under unprecedented assault a year into his presidency, with three different legal teams with different agendas trying to pry open the Trump Organizations books.
One one side is special counsel Robert S. Mueller III, who has subpoenaed Trump Organization documents as part of his wide-ranging investigation into the 2016 campaign. On another is Stormy Daniels, the adult-film actress seeking internal correspondence as part of her effort to be freed from a nondisclosure agreement centering on an alleged affair with Trump.
And in the most direct assault, the District and Maryland have sued Trump, alleging that he is improperly accepting gifts, or emoluments, from foreign or state governments through his businesses, including his hotels. A federal judge ruled Wednesday that the case can proceed, opening the way for the plaintiffs to seek at least a portion of Trumps tax returns, which the president has refused to release.
I think under pretty much any reading of the judges order, we can get discovery of his personal financial information in that it relates to payments from foreign and domestic governments, Maryland Attorney General Brian E. Frosh (D) said. He and D.C. Attorney General Karl A. Racine (D) also plan to seek other documents related to the presidents D.C. hotel.

(63,221 posts)He has lived a lifetime filled with criminal acts, lying, cheating, stealing, cruelty and just being an all-around evil person. It has to catch up with him sooner or later. He is too stupid to get away with it forever.

(36,775 posts)Trump started his Presidency by lying before God with his hand on the Bible.
"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States."

(14,144 posts)...... vigorous, dig deeper scrutiny. It seems unlikely his criminal enterprise of international money laundering, crime family syndicate and gang of thugs will weather the in-depth investigations very well. tRdump will eventually crack then crash and burn.

Donald Trump has finally messed with the wrong entities.
Now if only they could get him for Treason. Still, like Al Capone escaping murder charges but going to the slammer for tax evasion -- whatever it takes.

(5,810 posts)So I hope the heat continues to build under his hairy ass because it just will increase the pressure. We know he doesnt tolerate pressure worth two farts in the wind. His meltdowns and screaming matches are pretty well known and the stories have been repeatedly leaked to the press. I noticed the other day he looked puffy, jowly and tired. Couldnt happen to a more deserving jackass. I am not sure hed get a lot of sympathy if he keeled over in a fit of rage. Maybe well get a chance to find out.

It was difficult for them to get at the offshore stuff for money laundering before he was elected. Maybe now, with the full weight of the FBI & Mueller looking into the Russians, they'll get banking/accounting material from allies.
His legal expertise was mainly in civil litigation & bankruptcy - how to minimize damages/payouts and maximize claims in civil lawsuits. From the looks of Cohen's NDA, he's not the sharpest lawyer around. But he's never had much expertise to deal with what they're looking into now and the scale of this scrutiny.
With so many bright lights on him, it's going to be really hard for him to hide everything as the rats jump ship to cut a deal.
