General Discussion

The response has been basically that they don't promote NRA TV, only make it available.
So here's my last missive:
Perhaps you should reconsider your position vis a vis the Roku community standards.
Yes, I know that the NRA doesn't pay Roku and Ruko is only a passive pass through for their hate filled screeds. I know what your business model is. I'm no longer seeking to change your minds. I'm now going after Netflix, Hulu etc about sharing platforms with a hate mongering, fear peddling and gun promoting channel like NRA TV.
Thank you very much for your tiny modicum of consideration for your users.
Oh, and I need an address that I can send my disabled Roku devices to. I know it won't hurt Roku's bottom line because the devices have already been paid for but a protest without sacrifice is simply whining. I don't get mad. I think you know the second part of that meme.

(14,559 posts)They cost about $100 and plug into the HDMI port in your tv. With a $30 wireless micro keyboard/mouse it converts your tv to a computer. With an internet connection it makes the entire web available to you--all the streaming services as well as anything you can find on the net. No middle man, no content you don't search for.
My next purchase will be a micro tower customized to streaming and photo editing. Imagine photo editing on a 50 inch 4k monitor . . .

(495 posts)But I am scared of the precedent of encouraging platforms like Roku to narrow their offerings.
Who knows where it will stop? True, as a private company, they are not bound by the First Amendment. Nevertheless, they should be encouraged to offer the widest range of viewpoints, even if that includes ones we don't like.

(14,559 posts)NRA TV and Pornhub isn't much when it comes to community standards. One promotes nudity and sexuality, the other promotes hate and violence.
This isn't a first amendment issue, it's a common decency issue.

(13,584 posts)How is that different from being available through a Roku, if it all?

(14,559 posts)They do not stream porn, they do not stream racial bigotry and a host of other objectional content. I am asking that they include NRA TV in the category of objectional material because they incite hatred, division and violence on their channel.
