Fox News host Laura Ingraham could be facing an existential threat to her brief tenure as the host of a primetime TV show over her handling of a tweet mocking Parkland, Florida, school shooting survivor David Hogg, according to industry insiders.
Her apology has been inadequate so far, Joe Peyronnin, a former president of Fox News, told TheWrap. If it is dragging down their revenues significantly and she has not addressed it in such a way that advertisers will return it could be fatal for sure.
As of Friday, at least 10 sponsors had announced they would stop advertising on The Ingraham Angle despite her Thursday apology to Hogg for a tweet accusing the 17-year-old of whining about his rejection from four California colleges to which he had applied.
Its going to be a business decision, Peyronnin said. Look at how long Fox News hung on with people being charged with sexual harassment or mistreatment. It took them a while but ultimately when they saw their business being damaged for the long term, they made decisions.

(46,166 posts)I always found her attitude so smug.
You have to be pretty dumb not the see the writing on the wall about how much support the students are getting for the tragedy they witnessed and survived. She deserves to lose her show for shoving her head farther up her ass.

(10,095 posts)She'll never run out of money even if her show is cancelled. I'm glad these students don't back down. The right always attacks, mocks, and makes jokes about those struggling or without much power. I am glad this current garbage from her has reminded or revealed to people what she did at Dartmouth.

(2,315 posts)These amazing young adults are already making a huge and rapid difference with their social media expertise. They deserve our help. I don't Tweet. I'm better on the phone.
I've found over the years that talking to Customer "Service" gets little done.
I've also found that calling corporate and asking for the CEO by name is an effective way to get upper management to listen.
So for anyone who is bored with a relaxing Monday after Easter, here are a few names and phone numbers. Perhaps others can add to the list.

(90,562 posts)She is no longer a Republican, for one thing. She has excellent panels that include a range of viewpoints, genders, and ethnicities. With the exception of Hewitt, all the conservatives she has on have no patience for either Trump or Trumpism.

(11,787 posts)She worked on the McCain/Palin campaign after all....

(90,562 posts)You should read her book on that campaign. Recall that a lot of people, both Dem and Repub, look on McCain as a war hero. Getting in on his campaign was not like trying to ride Trump's sleazy coattails. Then she was put in charge of bringing Palin up to speed, and it was a disaster.
Both Steve Schmidt and Nicolle rank Palin, along with Trump, as utterly unfit and unqualified to be anywhere near the Oval Office.
Glamrock
(11,787 posts)that doesn't negate the fact that the two of them helped build this disaster. Both of them had no problem calling me (and I'm assuming you) a, traitor for being against the Iraq war. Granted, I'm thrilled that they may have seen the error of their ways, but they are taking up airspace that should be going to liberal voices that predicted this shitshow years ago. Personally, they both make me wanna puke. I could care less if they happen to agree with me at this moment in time. Same goes for Joe Scarborough. These people are only on our side until Trump is gone.

(11,787 posts)But not voting for someone who's unqualified while working to get that person elected doesn't make you a hero in my book.

(3,363 posts)Nicole Wallace is excellent. And she's as anti-Trump and anti-GOP as you can get right now. She constantly bashes them on her show and her guests like Steve Schmidt are even harsher in their criticisms.

The one I really can't stand and never could is Hannity. He's such a hate monger racist, he upsets me.
I'm sure they'd just fill his slot with another conservative but I'd love to see him get the boot.

(19,186 posts)are taking a double hit on this issue. The right-wing schmucks are boycotting the advertisers because they caved in to the pressure from the Democrats to abandon sweet, sweet Laura.
People withdrawing support from the left, and people withdrawing support from the right. That leaves the middle, which in today's political climate isn't that many consumers. Companies may decide that advertising on FOX is a risk they're no longer willing to take. Ad revenue on FOX could plummet across the board, with the exception of the die hard geriatric Hannity fans, and Trump's favorite all white-bread show, 'FOX and Fiends' ('r' omitted purposely).
What a shame it would be if FOX's White House Propaganda Wurlitzer lost the revenue it needs to keep the right-wing pipes blowing!
