Romney, praising Israel, praises country w/ top income tax rate of 48% (on income over 125,000 USD)

That's using the conversion rate at the Bank of Israel

http://www.bankisrael.gov.il/eng.shearim/

which is currently just over 4 to1.

Wikipedia article on Israeli tax rates:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taxation_in_Israel

The previous top tax rate had been 45% on income over NIS 482,760 (about $120,000), but in 2012 that's been raised to 48% on income over NIS 501,961, or about $125,000.

Think what increasing to those rates would do for reducing our deficit and national debt here in the US!

And of course it would help fund a true national health care system like the one in Israel that Romney has praised.

Journalists really need to ask Romney about his high opinion of a country with both socialized medicine and a very high tax rate on the rich.

It is funded by tax receipts and the government pays the "premiums". ACA and the Massachusetts plan require people to pay premiums to insurance companies and restrict the amount of profit they are allowed to make.

From your link:

Health care coverage is administered by a small number of organizations, with funding from the government. All Israeli citizens are entitled to the same Uniform Benefits Package, regardless of which organization they are a member of, and treatment under this package is funded for all citizens regardless of their financial means.

Romney is praising UCH, not ACA/MA.

I would pay good money to hear him stump on UCH back here.

Rmoney saw the bottom line that pnhp.org has been *trying* to get people to look at for years now - and he liked it.

I double dog dare him to come back here and stump on that.

Think something like that would work here in the US, Mitt? Or is this just another case of "it works there but not everywhere" sort of thing?
