Chick-fil-A brand health dives 40 percent after anti-LGBT remarks

The Georgia-based fried chicken chain Chick-fil-A has taken at massive hit since its founder publicly announced that the company opposed equal rights for LGBT people, according to a recent brand analysis.

Market research firm YouGov found that Chick-fil-A’s BrandIndex score had fallen 40 percent nationally since Dan Cathy told the Baptist Press that his company was “guilty as charged” of funding groups that oppose marriage equality.

YouGov determined the BrandIndex score by averaging other measurements, including “quality, impression, value, reputation, satisfaction and willingness to recommend.”

and it proves a point I've been making for years. If you run a business you should never pick a political side and make it the face of the business, it's just idiotic.

Unless your business caters very predominantly to one side of the spectrum or the other to begin with you will lose more business that you'll gain.

Chick-fil-A has always been known as a company run with a specific religious philosophy, hell you get religious tracts with the meal, but until now it's not been seen as being openly hostile to a specific group. Now this moron comes out and pretty much says. "Fuck this I don't care what anyone thinks I, and therefore my entire company hate all gay people and think that what they do in the privacy of their own homes is icky".

Now Sarah Palin and her constant companion Todd may have eaten at one of these overrated KFC ripoffs for the first time but I'll guarantee you that far more people drove by one thinking "Shit a chicken sandwich would be pretty good right now but I hate that asshole so I'll just go across the street and grab one from Popeyes".

Chick-fil-a has never been anything like KFC...with the exception of cole slaw...they really are/were about the sandwich and not pieces of chicken.

when attempting to truly insult a piece of shit organization like chick-fil-a it's simply de rigueur to compare their product and or people to the current lowest common denominator. If I could have thought of a more well known and less respected brand than KFC I probably would have used that.

I personally don't care how good their chicken sandwiches are, those produced by my Mom would put them and the sky wizard that leads them to shame.

need to think about how they're going to pay the bills if they piss off half the population. Chick fil a is really big in the community where I live, promoting schools, clubs, and x-tian businesses, and they seem to do pretty well. On the other hand, Bojangles never does any of those things and their parking lot/drive thru needs to be twice the size just because their customers spill out into the main thoroughfare and block traffic, esp on the weekends. I think it's just because Bojangles' chicken is better--nice & spicy!

they are free to take a stand on any given issue and we are free to judge companies based on those stands.

They would have been wise to stay silent on this but I support their right to an opinion (even one I disagree with personally).

You sell chicken sandwiches.. That's your business.. STFU about your own personal peccadilloes , UNLESS you can tolerate the push-back.

Keep your PR stuff middle of the road, cater to everyone, and insult NO ONE.. If you cannot do that, then start a private club in your dining room at home, and serve chicken to your nearest & dearest.

It's just that simple..

No such thing as Hate Fil A around here. If nothing else this may prevent their expansion. Their apologists were going on about the 'franchise owners' but their franchises are fully owned by the company, the 'operators' have no equity stake at all. They pay chump change to be glorified managers of an industrial fryer.
