and it undoubtedly was, but this is EXACTLY why guns in school is a terrible idea. People make mistakes; why give them an extra opportunity to make a very bad one?

That should preclude a person from ever purchasing or owning a firearm again. He's pretty conclusively demonstrated that he can't be trusted with them.

Oh, and the idea of teachers packing heat in school is idiotic.

People are human (some are, anyway) and are therefore given to forgetfulness, depression, impulsiveness, fits of rage at actual or perceived slights, and so on.

All of which more than offsets any potential safety-gains brought about by “responsible gun ownership.”

A 9mm Glock accidentally discharged by a drunk man, who found it in a public bathroom stall, prevented a bloody massacre at the Deerfield Beach International Fishing Pier, Dana Loesch tells us.

"The gunshot frightened away the criminal gangs who had planned to rob and kill the fisherman at the pier that day," Ms Loesch said.

A police investigation confirmed that there was no mass killing of fisherman on the pier by criminal gangs in the hours immediately after the gun was found.

Ms Loesch pointed out that the incident was another example of the power of a good drunk with a gun. She again asked the Florida legislature to act quickly to protect the public by fully funding the NRA's "Glocks in Pissoirs" program

It had been accidentally left there by a security guard -- whose only job was keeping people safe.

The more people we arm, the more incidents like this will happen -- even more so when the gun isn't part of a person's main job.

of course he did.

The only teachers who I would trust to bring a loaded gun to school are the teachers who DON'T WANT TO FUCKING CARRY A LOADED WEAPON TO SCHOOL BECAUSE THEY KNOW THAT IT IS A DANGEROUS TOOL THAT COULD ACCIDENTALLY -- OR WORSE -- BE DISCHARGED!

"Simpson, who supervised student activist Emma Gonzalez on a science project and appeared in a short documentary made by David Hogg before the shooting, has been a supporter of Stoneman Douglas students' gun control efforts and attended the March For Our Lives protest in Washington D.C. on March 24.

"I was running from the sound of gunfire .. in a high school I felt safe in," Simpson said during an MSNBC interview a week after the Feb. 14 shooting. "That's not OK, that never should be a thing that could happen. .. These kids are demanding action, they're going to cause change." "
