There use to be this term that described American's abroad.

It was the Ugly American.

This type of American goes over seas and refuses, at the least, the local cuisine and at the worst, insisting that they all talk American...

And Mitt Romney fits this bill to the max. Blithely careening across Europe and the middle east in a cocoon made of American Exceptionalism. This isn't the idea that Americans are Exceptional but the Mitt is above anything that happens anywhere but the US of A. Worse yet, his protected and skewed view of his place in the United States...

This is reminiscent of the way Dubya looked out over the world, that the rest of the world had one purpose, to condone anything the US does...

1. Whenever I've been abroad, I always try to behave like a good American...

In Paris, I use my rudimentary French, and the French people normally respond positively. Nowadays, they all want to practice their English, though!

I was always afraid to come across like the Ugly American...

2. It is hard to believe but Rmoney would be even worse

than the worst President in our history George W. Bush. I thought Bush was clueless but this guy is even more out of it. I thought Bush had a mean streak but Rmoney is even nastier. The only think this guy cares about is getting as much money as possible no matter who it hurts. He is truly the scariest guy ever to get a major party nomination.

4. Yes, but was he shouting, so they'd understand him better?

I've actually seen people do that.
