I want degrees in Skullduggery, Mass Deception & Manipulation, and Prevarication. Oh, add an MFA in Whining.

Great one, syringis.

Isn't that already included in your Law degree ?

According to some weird thoughts, mine does...

I don't know if it is the same in the US, but here many think a lawyer learned how to circumvent the law...

It reminds me a story. Almost 2 decades later, I still LMAO when I think of it !

I'll try to tell it the best I can :

Here, when you buy a house, formalities are completed by a notary .It is mandatory. You probably know it, a notary in our Law system is different of a public notary (Common Law).

The notary is also a tax collector. Taxes when you buy a house here, are quite high. All in all, it represents +/- 20% of the price (notary fees, tax on the house, mortgage,...)

So, some at their risks, pay a fraction off the books to diminish the taxable basis (true bad idea...)

Here comes the story :

One of my client wanted to do so, but in the same time, he wanted to get a proof he gave money hand from hand to the vendor (!!) He asked me to find him a section of Law which will "secure" his payment...

I told him the Law has not such articles as, by definition, Law is not meant to provide help to fraudsters or cover them...

He went ballistic, shouting it was impossible, that it was a shame, lawmakers where thieves, I was incapable, must have found my degree in cereal box, and on...

I'm not sure I could really replicate the scene, but really, I'm still laughing at the story, it was unreal !

I have another story as funny : to make it short, it was my fault, the Law wasn't considering a nephew as a inheritor in direct line...it implies :

- higher taxes to pay
- no legal reserve, the testator can chose the heir, related or not.

In this cas, the nephew thought it was unfair his uncle's widow was the legal heiress...
