Put me in charge of food stamps, I’d get rid of Lone Star cards; no cash for Ding Dongs or Ho HO’s, just money for 50 pound bags of rice and beans, blocks of cheese and all the powered milk you can haul away. If you want steak and frozen pizza then get a job.

Put me in charge of Medicaid. The first thing I’d do is to get woman Norplant birth control implants or tubal legations. Then, we’ll test recipients for drugs, alcohol and nicotine. If you want to reproduce or use drugs, alcohol, or smoke, then get a job.

Put me in charge of government housing. Ever live in military barracks? You will maintain our property in a clean good state of repair. Your home “ will be subject to inspections anytime and possessions will be inventoried. If you want a plasma TV or Xbox 360, then get a job and you own place.

In addition, you will either present a check stub from a job each week or you will report to a “government” job. It may be cleaning the roadways of trash, painting and repairing public housing, whatever we find for you. We will sell your 22 inch rims and low profile tires and your blasting stereo and speakers and put that money toward the “common good”.

Before you write that I’ve violated someone’s rights, realize that all of the above is voluntary. If you want our money, accept our rules. Before you say that this would be “demeaning” and ruin their “self esteem,” consider that it wasn’t that long ago that taking someone else’s money for doing absolutely nothing was demeaning and lowered self esteem.

If we are expected to pay for other people’s mistakes we should at least attempt to make them learn from their bad choices. The current system rewards them for continuing to make bad choices.

I partially agree with this. I think that junk food (ice cream, pizza, cookies, chips, soda etc) and drinks should be banned from food stamp purchases. And rice and beans are very good for you compared to the average American diet, but its not enough variety for taste or complete nutrition.

Most of these poor folks are just as human and moral as the rest of us. It surprises many to learn this because this fact does not fit with their world view.

They paid for me and my friends to have a nice BBQ every other weekend while I was training to be an Army combat medic going to Iraq in San Antonio, Texas at Fort Sam Houston. And by the way WIC pays for our Milk, cheese, eggs, and bread.

Today, after a tour in Iraq and honorable military service, I buy my wife and two sons food with Food Stamps because, according to the Senators and Representatives that put this into place, I do not make enough money to cover all my expenses. Try voting and encouraging others to vote if you want to change it.

Voting doesn't make the rules, voting on those who vote the laws in place does. Writing those individuals on a regular bases helps too, either individually or from a group in your local community with thousands of signatures.

piercings. If you want to reproduce or use drugs, alcohol, smoke or get tats
and piercings, then get a job..," Response: Perscription drugs are legal, alcohol is legal, tobacco is legal, tattoos are legal, and piercings are legal. Even some Federally illegal drugs are said to be legal by some State legislatures. Food stamps don't pay for any of these, nor do other any other government agencies, unless provided to service men and women and government employees that receive benefits from employment, including monetary compensation.

You will maintain our property in a clean and good state of repair." Response: Indeed, and I did, and I made sure the soldiers put under my command did too, which included me taking multiple hours and days away from my family to supervise my soldiers and made sure they were as OCD as me.

This statement confuses me by the lack of privacy this 21 year old woman would like to have as she gets older. Anytime? Hope you're never naked in the shower, or in some other position with a loved one.

own place." Response: One of my jobs is at Best Buy. Can you say 'Employee discount?' Plasmas suck, my 50 inch, LED, SMART, 3D television is better. (See jobs while under government assistance above) I have an XBOX 360 my wife got me after borrowing money from her mother and working three months for it.

"Put me in charge of Medicaid" Response: You don't even know the pharmaceutical names for all medications, let alone all the diagnosis' that a person can receive from trauma, medical or mental. Not to mention the long lines, 6 months to a year waiting times, 10 pages of paperwork in order to apply, or having a colonoscopy where a camera is shoved up your ass to find out if you colon cancer or not for your service in Iraq where you might have caught an unknown bug, regardless of how many showers you took or had an opportunity to take.

"Put me in charge of government housing" Response: Haven't you gotten my message yet? Why speak about things you know nothing about? Seek God. Find answers in the Bible before you judge others.

Response: I report my earnings every week to my State in order to receive Food Stamps, WIC, and Under-employment (yes, with two jobs). The jobs you mention are mostly being done by inmates which makes me think you believe all government assistance citizens are criminals. Hmm?

"We will sell your 22 inch rims and low profile tires and your blasting stereo and speakers and put that money toward the "common good.." Resonse: Now you're just contradicting your ignorant self where, once again, government assistance does not pay for these things, therefor one would have to have a job in order to pay for them. Is the "common good," you? Probably not, but then you're not even talking about Robin Hood and stealing from the rich to give to the poor. You're talking about the lower-middle to lower class giving to the lowest class. That doesn't even make sense to Socialists.

Response: They're not rights, they're laws and regulations put in place to do one thing - help other people. If you're against helping others, don't pay taxes ( not voluntary, its law for which jail time could be served, SEE VOTING FOR POLITICIANS OR BECOMING ONE ABOVE).

"If you want our money, accept our rules.." Response: OUR money? It's my money too, but because the majority of America is paying it, it's really a very small portion, less than 3 billionth of a dollar once it gets separated to all the different funds.

Response: Giving and taking are two-fold - in order to take, you must give, in order to give, you must receive. But you probably don't know anything about that so I'll move on.

But for further reference, I've had friends and acquaintances that died between the ages of 18 and 20 that couldn't drink alcohol legally, the voting age was put in place in a time where voting wasn't sent to a "voting college," but here we are expecting those who vote for us to do what we want them to do, because it is their vote, not ours, that puts actions in place. "Guts?" I've seen my share spread in a war I didn't believe in and even helped people that were from a third world nation I didn't care for in the past. We call them "HUMAN RIGHTS", not American rights, that all people should be helped and those who are helped will, and may have previously helped others in the past or in the future help others. If they do or don't, what does that mean to you. You won't except their help anyway.

Who are you to determine the 'minimum level'? If the minimum level is living in a third world country, I recommend all the people your are referring to move to Iraq or Afghanistan. WAIT! The second part of this is - #2 The means of doing this - We live in a greatful nation, a giveful nation, and a nation that will take care of its own, even if they can't take care of themselves.

I'm in the Veteran Affairs System, Unemployment System, WIC System, Food Stamp System, IRS System, Secondary Education System, Independent Employment System, Best Buy Employment System, and Student Family Housing System. I applied, registered, and waited a long time in order to get into these systems and time is money. Money I could've been making at a job which would have earned me at least a week or twos wages. At minimum wage I could've supported myself but not my family.

And finally, all of your comments could've been in jest, therefore, I applaud you on attempting to make an argument to shake things up. You being a 21 year old, and me a 33 year old, I believe your opinions are awesome, although ignorant, and the fact that we live in a nation and information age where these opinions can be heard across endless borders is fantastic. I'm sure my responses won't be spread as far as your comments, but hopefully you can learn from them.

Ya know, I understand that some people take advantage of the system. But this is ridiculous. Yes, we have government assistance but guess what? My husband fought in Iraq, we pay taxes fairly, we buy food that feeds us, & we are a good Christian family. There are guidelines in place & requirements to qualify. My husband works hard & kicks butt in school while I care for our growing child. Judge not, my friends. You don't walk in my flip flops. By the way, that government assistance didn't pay for my tattoos (Ialready had them) & I don't use drugs but I buy cigarettes so throw another stone!
