Found this on my desk this AM at work from a right winger. So wrong on so many levels

Obviously the writer has been brainwashed by a steady stream of Fox/Rush/Beck etc for writing this pile of excrement......

Wake up America
This young lady, age 21 has got it right!!!!
And she is from Waco
Don’t you agree?
“If you can’t fix it with a hammer, you’ve got an electrical problem”

Written by a 21 year old female, Wow. This girl has a great plan! Love the last thing she would do the best.

This was written by a 21 year old female who gets it. It’s her future she’s worried about and this is how she feels about the social welfare big government state that she’s being forced to live in! These solutions are just common sense in her opinion.

This was in the Waco Tribune Herald, Waco, TX November 18, 2011

PUT ME IN CHARGE…

Put me in charge of food stamps, I’d get rid of Lone Star cards; no cash for Ding Dongs or Ho HO’s, just money for 50 pound bags of rice and beans, blocks of cheese and all the powered milk you can haul away. If you want steak and frozen pizza then get a job.

Put me in charge of Medicaid. The first thing I’d do is to get woman Norplant birth control implants or tubal legations. Then, we’ll test recipients for drugs, alcohol and nicotine. If you want to reproduce or use drugs, alcohol, or smoke, then get a job.

Put me in charge of government housing. Ever live in military barracks? You will maintain our property in a clean good state of repair. Your home “ will be subject to inspections anytime and possessions will be inventoried. If you want a plasma TV or Xbox 360, then get a job and you own place.

In addition, you will either present a check stub from a job each week or you will report to a “government” job. It may be cleaning the roadways of trash, painting and repairing public housing, whatever we find for you. We will sell your 22 inch rims and low profile tires and your blasting stereo and speakers and put that money toward the “common good”.

Before you write that I’ve violated someone’s rights, realize that all of the above is voluntary. If you want our money, accept our rules. Before you say that this would be “demeaning” and ruin their “self esteem,” consider that it wasn’t that long ago that taking someone else’s money for doing absolutely nothing was demeaning and lowered self esteem.

If we are expected to pay for other people’s mistakes we should at least attempt to make them learn from their bad choices. The current system rewards them for continuing to make bad choices.

AND while you are on Govt subsistence, you no longer can VOTE! Yes, that is correct. For you to vote would be a conflict of interest. You will voluntarily remove yourself from voting while you are receiving Govt welfare check. If you want to vote, then get a job.

Now if you have the guts pass it on…

MY COMMENT IS, THIS YOUNG GIRL DOESN'T REALIZE THAT SOME DAY SHE MIGHT NEED THE SO CALLED "EVIL GOVERNMENT" HELP AND WILL ONE DAY REGRET SHE WROTE THIS. THIS HAS SO MUCH RIGHT WING GARBAGE AND STEREOTYPES YOU KNOW SHE IS TALKING ABOUT MINORITIES WHILE NOT REALIZING MORE WHITE PEOPLE ARE ON GOVERNMENT ASSISTANCE THAN MINORITIES

Nobody that attends church should be allowed to vote cause they might change the Constitution so taxpayer money could constitutionally be given as tithing to their church.

Nobody in government should be allowed to vote cause there is a conflict of interest.

Nobody receiving state or federal aid for natural disasters should be allowed to vote.

Nobody that is receiving Social Security should be allowed to vote.

Nobody that has received federal college aid should be allowed to vote.

That was written by somebody who obviously doesn't do the grocery shopping, or is one of the most unobservant people on the planet. I'm pretty sure that are no states that would allow one to buy junk food like Ding Dongs with their food stamps. Or, steak or frozen pizza, for that matter. And, if every other state is like mine, they put little signs under products that are eligible for purchase using EBT (state food stamps) or WIC, It is usually right next to the price. I have never seen it next to anything other than inexpensive, good-for-you foods.

This pile of crap shows its author to be nothing but a cruel, heartless person. I would like to see him or her be forced to live on beans, rice, government cheese and powdered milk for the rest of his/her pathetic life and see how he/she likes it. Self-righteous asshole. Not going to read the rest, as that first paragraph was sickening enough.

The content is pretty much complete crap and that is not the issue. The issue is how does one respond.

Option 1). Wad it up into a very visible ball and leave it on your desk so that the person who left it can clearly see your feelings.

Option 2). Shred it and never mention that it ever arrived on your desk, denying them the satisfaction of any response.

I would go with 2, but the choice is yours of course.

to be that mean to fellow human beings. I also don't have the guts to be that stupid but that is beside the point.

Sounds like someone, doubtfully a 20 year old, has always had enough of what they need to make things better for themselves. Very hard to become anything when you have nothing and once at nothing assistance is needed to get back into things and try to make something better for yourself. We are all in this together, sadly we are together with people like this.

Really?? Because I kind of thought voting was a right.

And in typical rightwinger fashion, they are freaking out because they THINK an "honest to goodness FEEEMale wrote that!" Wow.. pretty impressive that a FEEEMale was able to write more than a shopping list, apparently.

Hope that old guy that wrote it is enjoying his retirement entitlements.

Our country had government cheese and other foods in the past. They also used to check on people to be sure they were "really" poor. That is our past, and it sucked. Even though it was a terrible system, it was a beginning which beat starvation. We have come a long way, and we are not going backwards no matter how many wingnuts whine.
Welfare and food stamps are good for business and good for communities. As is the right to vote.

I partially agree with this. I think that junk food (ice cream, pizza, cookies, chips, soda etc) and drinks should be banned from food stamp purchases. And rice and beans are very good for you compared to the average American diet, but its not enough variety for taste or complete nutrition.

In addition, you will either present a check stub from a job each week or you will report to a “government” job. It may be cleaning the roadways of trash, painting and repairing public housing, whatever we find for you.

I think this would be a good idea like back during the FDR days but ironically the Republicans would never go for it and it would probably be more expensive than the current system.

I think that junk food is worse for health than alcohol and cigs so why should we pay for people to buy that crap? Let them buy it with their own money just like cigs and alcohol.

Actually there are hundreds of thing govt workers could do for the commons. Example would be for youth restoring habitat to its natural condition by getting rid of invasives and stream resoration and controlled burning etc.

You get x welfare dollars, you spend it how you want. Everyone should be allowed to go to hell in their own way, IMO.

As for the jobs, could is not would. How many ideas have you seen that seemed good ideally, but are abused? There are state governments (ALA and GA come to mind) who are already using prisoners to improve corporate bottom lines, and not for work on the commons.

I'm on food stamps. I buy frozen prepared food because for the last month I can't even get down the fucking stairs. I've had a badly broken leg for 11 months. I've had three surgeries. As a result of my accident I also have a charming neuro vascular condition called Complex Regional Pain syndrome. Want to trade places with me? No? You don't want to have to handle being on crutches and being in constant pain? Then don't even begin to tell me what I can and can't buy with food stamps.

and go away.

You're in "almost perfect health" by pure chance, the luck of the draw. Yes, there are plenty of things people can do to maintain and improve their health but cancer is cancer is cancer. And genetics are genetics.

If your response to this absolute vile piece of garbage is to find a point of agreement then I question how much you and I have in common as far as Democratic values go. An essential part of any civilized society is empathy; you don't need to be a rocket scientist to understand that a dog eat dog world is one in which only the 1% benefits.

The question is "doing what?"

This person has no earthly clue how hard it is to find a company that has jobs and will hire the homeless, the unskilled, or people with arrest records.

There really and truly aren't enough jobs out there for this sort of labor. They really and truly do not exist and remotely close to the quantities needed. This guy I have been "helping" takes it a notch further, in that he is homeless, low skilled, with an arrest record, and in need of anti-psychotics to remain on the same planet as the rest of us.

People have already learned from their "bad choices". When you end up skipping enough meals the message is loud and clear. No boot camp atmosphere would take it up notch.

Actually most of the homeless I have worked with would be happy to sign up for her plan, if it included "3 hots and a cot" but wasn't jail for a change.

Give me the young lady for a week and I will take her some places that would turn her head inside out. It is not all that hard to do or even much of a drive.

than the rest of us can come hard to some. There is this Puritan thing people can be afflicted with. It is the notion that the divine rewards morality in personal matters with financial success. THey see the rich as inherently moral and the poor as inherently immoral (or they would be rich). The delusion ties nicely to the "American Dream" as the people who fail have either not "worked hard" or made "poor (moral) choices" It is "obvious" because those who work hard and make good choices "always succeed".

Then you meet the actual people and most are not really different. Admittedly, there is a very small group who are quite different, make bad choices every day, and spend lots of time in jail. Virtually none of them have any government benefits of any sort, except free and regular access to the court system and free meals and housing in our jails. But vast bulk are just regular folks surviving from one day to the next on day labor jobs when they can be had and benefits if they qualify.

Most of these poor folks are just as human and moral as the rest of us. It surprises many to learn this because this fact does not fit with their world view.

...Quakers have been arguing against Puritan notions for 350 years. Checking for weapons is not a bad idea, as Quakers are not comfortable with weapons. I have been doing volunteer work with these folks for nearly 20 years in the "roughest" parts of town, and have never needed a weapon, which is good as I will never carry one.

A 21 year old that "gets it", that a good start to a good laugh. "Worried about her future," Why? She seems to make her own. "Social Welfare," Not her problem if she's making the big bucks. "Big Government," Get into politics. "Forced to live in," Get a passport and move somewhere else, get a VISA, and apply for citizenship somewhere else.Put me in charge . . .

"Put me in charge of food stamps" Response: Food Stamps are awesome. They paid for me and my friends to have a nice BBQ every other weekend while I was training to be an Army combat medic going to Iraq in San Antonio, Texas at Fort Sam Houston. And by the way WIC pays for our Milk, cheese, eggs, and bread.

Today, after a tour in Iraq and honorable military service, I buy my wife and two sons food with Food Stamps because, according to the Senators and Representatives that put this into place, I do not make enough money to cover all my expenses. Try voting and encouraging others to vote if you want to change it.

"then get a job.. " Response: I have two jobs, going on three jobs, in addition to using my GI Bill to obtain a bachelor's degree.

"The first thing I'd do is to get women
Norplant birth control implants or tubal ligations." Response: Aren't you the same person that believes the government should pay for abortions if you get raped and become pregnant. If not, see above response on voting and encouraging others to vote.
Voting doesn't make the rules, voting on those who vote the laws in place does. Writing those individuals on a regular bases helps too, either individually or from a group in your local community with thousands of signatures.

"Then, we'll test
recipients for drugs, alcohol, and nicotine and document all tattoos and
piercings. If you want to reproduce or use drugs, alcohol, smoke or get tats
and piercings, then get a job..," Response: Perscription drugs are legal, alcohol is legal, tobacco is legal, tattoos are legal, and piercings are legal. Even some Federally illegal drugs are said to be legal by some State legislatures. Food stamps don't pay for any of these, nor do other any other government agencies, unless provided to service men and women and government employees that receive benefits from employment, including monetary compensation.

"Ever live in a military barracks?
You will maintain our property in a clean and good state of repair." Response: Indeed, and I did, and I made sure the soldiers put under my command did too, which included me taking multiple hours and days away from my family to supervise my soldiers and made sure they were as OCD as me.

"Your "home" will be subject to inspections anytime and possessions will be inventoried." Response: Uh, you want to live in a communist society? You're a Nazi? This statement confuses me by the lack of privacy this 21 year old woman would like to have as she gets older. Anytime? Hope you're never naked in the shower, or in some other position with a loved one.

"If you want a plasma TV or Xbox 360, then get a job and your
own place." Response: One of my jobs is at Best Buy. Can you say 'Employee discount?' Plasmas suck, my 50 inch, LED, SMART, 3D television is better. (See jobs while under government assistance above) I have an XBOX 360 my wife got me after borrowing money from her mother and working three months for it.

"Put me in charge of Medicaid" Response: You don't even know the pharmaceutical names for all medications, let alone all the diagnosis' that a person can receive from trauma, medical or mental. Not to mention the long lines, 6 months to a year waiting times, 10 pages of paperwork in order to apply, or having a colonoscopy where a camera is shoved up your ass to find out if you colon cancer or not for your service in Iraq where you might have caught an unknown bug, regardless of how many showers you took or had an opportunity to take.

"Put me in charge of government housing" Response: Haven't you gotten my message yet? Why speak about things you know nothing about? Seek God. Find answers in the Bible before you judge others.

"In addition, you will either present a check stub from a job each week or you will report to a "government" job. It may be cleaning the roadways of trash, painting and repairing public housing, whatever we find for you." Response: I report my earnings every week to my State in order to receive Food Stamps, WIC, and Under-employment (yes, with two jobs). The jobs you mention are mostly being done by inmates which makes me think you believe all government assistance citizens are criminals. Hmm?

"We will sell your 22 inch rims and low profile tires and your blasting stereo and speakers and put that money toward the "common good.." Resonse: Now you're just contradicting your ignorant self where, once again, government assistance does not pay for these things, therefor one would have to have a job in order to pay for them. Is the "common good," you? Probably not, but then you're not even talking about Robin Hood and stealing from the rich to give to the poor. You're talking about the lower-middle to lower class giving to the lowest class. That doesn't even make sense to Socialists.

"Before you write that I've violated someone's rights, realize that all of the above is voluntary." Response: They're not rights, they're laws and regulations put in place to do one thing - help other people. If you're against helping others, don't pay taxes ( not voluntary, its law for which jail time could be served, SEE VOTING FOR POLITICIANS OR BECOMING ONE ABOVE).

"If you want our money, accept our rules.." Response: OUR money? It's my money too, but because the majority of America is paying it, it's really a very small portion, less than 3 billionth of a dollar once it gets separated to all the different funds.

"Before you say that this would be "demeaning" and ruin their "self esteem," consider that it wasn't that long ago that taking someone else's money for doing absolutely nothing was demeaning and lowered self esteem." Response: Giving and taking are two-fold - in order to take, you must give, in order to give, you must receive. But you probably don't know anything about that so I'll move on.

"If we are expected to pay for other people's mistakes we should at least attempt to make them learn from their bad choices." Response: You've already made one by posting this and I hope you learn from it.

"The current system rewards them for continuing to make bad choices., you no longer can VOTE! Yes that is correct. For you to vote would be a conflict of interest. You will voluntarily remove yourself from voting while you are receiving a Gov't welfare check. If you want to vote, then get a job. Now, if you have the
guts - PASS IT ON..." Response: Once again, SEE VOTING ABOVE. But for further reference, I've had friends and acquaintances that died between the ages of 18 and 20 that couldn't drink alcohol legally, the voting age was put in place in a time where voting wasn't sent to a "voting college," but here we are expecting those who vote for us to do what we want them to do, because it is their vote, not ours, that puts actions in place. "Guts?" I've seen my share spread in a war I didn't believe in and even helped people that were from a third world nation I didn't care for in the past. We call them "HUMAN RIGHTS", not American rights, that all people should be helped and those who are helped will, and may have previously helped others in the past or in the future help others. If they do or don't, what does that mean to you. You won't except their help anyway.

"AND While you are on Gov't subsistence Maybe a little harsh but chances are that this would turn some around."

Response: sub•sist•ence -

Noun
1.The action or fact of maintaining or supporting oneself at a minimum level.
2.The means of doing this.

Who are you to determine the 'minimum level'? If the minimum level is living in a third world country, I recommend all the people your are referring to move to Iraq or Afghanistan. WAIT! The second part of this is - #2 The means of doing this - We live in a greatful nation, a giveful nation, and a nation that will take care of its own, even if they can't take care of themselves.

I'm in the Veteran Affairs System, Unemployment System, WIC System, Food Stamp System, IRS System, Secondary Education System, Independent Employment System, Best Buy Employment System, and Student Family Housing System. I applied, registered, and waited a long time in order to get into these systems and time is money. Money I could've been making at a job which would have earned me at least a week or twos wages. At minimum wage I could've supported myself but not my family.

And finally, all of your comments could've been in jest, therefore, I applaud you on attempting to make an argument to shake things up. You being a 21 year old, and me a 33 year old, I believe your opinions are awesome, although ignorant, and the fact that we live in a nation and information age where these opinions can be heard across endless borders is fantastic. I'm sure my responses won't be spread as far as your comments, but hopefully you can learn from them.

And this is what my wife had to say:

Ya know, I understand that some people take advantage of the system. But this is ridiculous. Yes, we have government assistance but guess what? My husband fought in Iraq, we pay taxes fairly, we buy food that feeds us, & we are a good Christian family. There are guidelines in place & requirements to qualify. My husband works hard & kicks butt in school while I care for our growing child. Judge not, my friends. You don't walk in my flip flops. By the way, that government assistance didn't pay for my tattoos (Ialready had them) & I don't use drugs but I buy cigarettes so throw another stone!
