and blackmail. It's far from uncommon. I once knew a viciously malicious woman who ended up with a settlement she wasn't even trying for initially. She lied to get a boyfriend arrested out of pure spite, but ended up satisfied to walk away with some money after her victim had been arrested, his mother borrowed on her car to make bail, and he incurred a few thousand in legal fees. Last time I talked to her.

Obviously, using our donations as a slush fund for everyone whose loose zipper leads to complications is not acceptable. But means of protection and damage control for victimized colleagues and party are needed.

Wonder if kidnap, extortion and ransom insurance is available to politicians and what would cost them.
