I once got a plant tour at a spirits maker in Spain. They were allowed to drink wine at work.

Other than that, any drinking at all on the job is grounds for dismissal in most places.

medical field or anything like that. There are some professions where yeah it ain't acceptable and I would think doctoring would be one of them.

"Drinking on the job" = "Drinking on duty", which is a UCMJ violation.

Being drunk on duty is a violation of Art. 112, UCMJ. Drinking of duty is only a violation if there is a regulation or order forbidding it.

Each service has its own regulations concerning drinking on duty. The Navy reg is

OPNAVINST 5350.4D(6)(f):
Navy does not condone consumption of alcoholic beverages during normal working hours. Commanders, commanding officers, and OICs may authorize consumption of alcoholic beverages during normal working hours for official functions, ceremonies, and other infrequent command-sponsored events.

The language of "does not condone" is hardly the same thing as forbidding. There may be some clearer regulation that I have not found.

Under the applicable Army regulation, drinking alcohol at limited command functions can be authorized by a general officer (GO) in a supervisory or command chain.

AR 600-85, 3-2(b)
There will be no alcohol consumption during duty hours unless specifically authorized by the first GO or civilian equivalent (member of the Senior Executive Service (SES)) in the supervisory chain or, if not reasonable available, the garrison commander.

Absent such an authorization, drinking on duty in the Army is a violation of Article 92, UCMJ - Violation of a Regulation.

perfectly acceptable. There are frequent receptions in the late afternoon where alcohol is served.
