This is inspired by NewJeffCT's thread "I believe Sanders will win the nomination in 2020". He says he has not detected a huge drop off in support for Bernie Sanders.
Do you agree?
ETA: This poll is about the primaries, not the GE.

(30,481 posts)Will be down in numbers. I believe he will be able to lose a significant amount and still have a path to an easy primary victory.

(6,288 posts)The Democrat will easily win the primary, by millions like they did last time.
Sanders will be busy building his media empire, fully up & running by 2020.

(34,384 posts)I love Bernie and would love to support him again but I really want someone younger. I would love a progressive female candidate to vote for.
I don't think he will run but I do think he will throw a lot of support behind whoever does win the primary.

(62,352 posts)we need a good Congress and Democrats already are notorious for not showing up for off year elections. Lets turn out the vote for 2018 and then we can make a good choice from a deep bench of talent for the Democratic nominee whoever she/he is. Congress first. President after.

(147,716 posts)If he runs as an Independent, he will lose.
Senator Bernie Sanders will not become a US President, regardless of what he does.
He lost in the primary in 2016 to a more popular candidate. That will not change.

And you may not like this, but I think your poll proves we are doing Putins work for him. DU doesn't need Russian trolls, we divide and let ourselves be conquered
lunamagica
(9,967 posts)Huh?
That's a really obscure answer. Please explain, because I don't get it.
And this poll is doing Putin's work? Seriously? How?
dansolo
(5,385 posts)That ignores the fact that it was Bernie that got the support of the Russian bots in 2016.

(51,117 posts)If that happens to be Sanders, I'll support him. Splitting the vote means one thing: 8 years of Trump.

(42,862 posts)There are no two ways about it. I can't trust anyone who won't commit. None of this on-again/off-again wishy-washy bullshit. Make up your mind. Shit or get off the john. Do or don't. No questions. No exceptions. Period. End of story. Done. Over. End. Fini. Ende.
All I'm trying to say is that if anyone wants my vote, they'll have to PROVE to me that they are a LOYAL Democrat. I think that's fair, don't you?

(2,594 posts)As always I will vote for the democratic nominee. I can't decide on a candidate till I find out who is running.

(65,482 posts)I think some of the switching here may be because he's old and they want someone new. Those are factors, but the good definitely outweighs the bad for me. I will wait to see the whole field of candidates before picking one to vote for.

(10,721 posts)Neither Sanders nor Biden should be running for POTUS. The body and mind do start breaking down. That's a fact of life.

(65,482 posts)Sanders is healthy in mind and body. I stick to my vote in the poll. I can always change later as said.

(7,465 posts)Bernie was the only option to Hillary in 2016 but we had the Republican primary distraction.
Trump runs unopposed in 2020 and all the media has to focus on is the Democratic primary fight? That's actually scary, they will tear into everyone while Trump tweets about it. Bernie has a real chance to win the primary if he can keep 30% in a large field of primary candidates.

Id support Bernie again, depending on who also runs of course. His message and issues are in line with mine for the most part.
