One cramp.

Just one cramp, of the menstrual variety. Not one of these congressional republican men could withstand even one without hitting his knees in agony. Never mind the assorted discomforts of pregnancy, or the horror of rape or incest. Yet here they go AGAIN with all their overly-scripted weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth over abortion. Give it a rest, guys. You'd be a helluva lot more convincing if you actually gave a crap about kids after they're born.

1. Amen, my dear madamesilverspurs!

Both my girls are Democrats! They are smart, loving, caring women who love their children and husbands very much...

They are a hell of a lot better women than their mom, too...

They have made very smart health-care choices. No Republican can touch them!

Thank you for this excellent post.

2. Makes me wonder how any woman could vote Repub....

I know I can't. And women's rights is only one issue that tells me not to.

4. Four possibilities: 1) ignorance; 2) stupidity; 3) religion; 4) money.

That's about it.

8. I do wonder how compelling 4 is.

IIRC, Mrs Schlafley based a lot of her case against ERA on alimony and other fiduciary losses women might accrue under a change of status -- and ERA wasn't defeated just because every man in the country was opposed. I tend to shy away from mercenary women, so I don't really know how common they are. But "studies show" (ha) that "most women" think money first, everything else after.

I sometimes think women like Jan Brewer aren't even women -- they are some weird gender unto themselves. Baffling.

11. A woman voting Republican is like a chicken voting for Col. Sanders

(going with the popular chicken theme of late)

3. We didn't. My eldest daughter just got a call from a "Right to Life Foundation" for a survey.

She's 21 and a registered independent. I gave her the phone. She answered the first question with, "uh, yeah, I generally support right to life." Then she hummed and hawed a bit and I knew the next question. She said, "I'm not really sure what you mean by under any circumstances, can you explain? I don't think I know what you mean."

The polling person told her that was all to the survey. I'm sure they'll twist it some way. After she got off, I explained that that they meant "rape and incest". Because she didn't give the "correct" answer, they had no further need for her. She needs to learn how to deal with these things. Push polling has been a problem for decades and it's only getting worse.

On Edit: No shocker here, but the caller ID was a number from VA.

10. Oh bullshit. I got the big V 17 years ago. 15 minutes of being a baby on a table,....

.... AND two weeks of getting stitches caught on EVERYTHING!!! On the plus side, they needed a sperm sample after two weeks and I got a little help with that.

On Edit: The needle felt like it was up in my neck somewhere. That part was bad. The rest was fine.
