@Stonekettle
This last weekend, Nazis marched in Newnan, Georgia.
Nazis.
Proud. Unashamed. Out in the open. Unafraid to show their faces.
When Nazis aren't afraid to walk down the streets of America, and black Americans are, well you'd better wake up and hear the fucking alarm.
This is just stunning.

(7,725 posts)They've got to be staying in local hotels etc. Not too hard to push a few buttons and get in a brawl and knock some GD teeth out, old school.
Funny how the Harley Riders For trump...must think this is great. The same guys who drape their bikes and vests in the flag and wax and wane about Patriotism and Vietnam and the horrors of war. Buncha posers.
P.S. When are we going to boycott the (Germany) History Channel? All they show is Hitler expose's in every form and fashion. Hitlers Doctors, Hitlers Bunker, Hitlers Escape to Antartica. I grow real tired of the Nazi love on that GD channel as well. How's about some American History?

(37,312 posts)were my Father is buried, there are also graves of Allied Soldiers, mostly British and American who died fighting Nazism. The War Graves are along the main routes, so you can't miss them. You see their ages. All so young. In the case of the Dutch Soldiers, you see some died on the first or second day of the invasion.
All over Europe there are acres of graves of Americans who died, liberating Europe.
When I see these people marching (yes, even though they have the right to), I ask if all these Soldiers died for nothing.
The German people too paid a terrible price for the aberration that Hitler brought. We should leave it at that.

(53,410 posts)Thats one explanation of why Im such a loudmouthed cantankerous person in any situation in my life. Before I retired I had quite the reputation for speaking out against any form of oppression and disrespect to the employees by management. Especially in all staff meetings, right out in the open for all to hear.
Im sure you probably relate to this but getting older is very empowering when you use it to advantage. And, boy, do I!
I read as many books as I could get my hands on about the Holocaust when I was in my teens and twenties, and it was not hard to look at my fellow Americans and come to the conclusion that it could definitely happen here. The most obvious evidence of this possibility is right in front of our eyes. Racism, misogyny and jingoism. Anyone who think these arent blaring indicators of easily manipulated fascism hasnt been paying attention or is brain dead to reality.

(63,221 posts)I am so afraid she is right. I just don't see any sign of this stopping without violent resistance. Are we willing to do that? They will never stop. I feel sick to my stomach right now.

(11,562 posts)a man who the right would be damned proud to call their own. Career military, neither pro- nor anti-gun, but VERY much anti-gun-nut, being an absolute expert on the subject of guns.
He once said that, in his early years, he considered himself a moderate Republican...and his opinions and sentiments haven't changed. The GOP left him behind to the point that his consistent views, over the years, have become liberal.
Stonekettle Station should be at least perused by anyone into reading damned fine blogs.

Keep sharing, Arkansas Granny. We need all hands on deck to stop us from going where Mango Mussolini and company want to take us. Anyone that doesn't believe that, hasn't been paying attention.

(1,663 posts)When I was in elementary school, David Duke ran a nearly successful race to become governor of my state. Then President George H. W. Bush had to speak out against him from the national stage. It opened my young eyes in ways that shook my foundation. My young friends, especially, surprised me more than anyone else. Remember, it was the 1990s, not 1950s!
I do recall things seeming to simmer down for a bit. I guess that would depend on your social circles. In Baton Rouge, there was a huge desegregation lawsuit that wasn't settled until August 12, 2003. Yes, I did type 2003! It took 47 years to reach a conclusion!
During President Obama's tenure the racists lost their minds, and shame if you ask me, in an epic way! But you are also right! Under Dolt#45, they have really decided to let their racist freak flag fly!
We are just going to have to keep spreading the word, Arkansas Granny. I hope your fingers are ready for some serious typing!
Peace and love to you and yours!

(18,623 posts)I recall that video from back in the day, but forgot the title. I searched for it once without results. I believe the zero-G effects were filmed in the so called vomit comet.
The song means less to me than the truly ground breaking cine, produced in the infancy of CGI.

(1,663 posts)There were a few videos produced at that time with similar effects. Check out Busta Rhymes ft. Janet Jackson in " What's It Gonna Be".
Still, getting back to the thread, "Scream" is exactly how "Nazis are hot again" makes me feel. This is just crazy!

Now they get a pat on the back from their friends and a police escort to the town square.

(11,841 posts)They've been "marching" for decades all over the country. And they NEVER have the support of the locals. They also never have very many members. 1978 the SCOTUS said they could show their ass.
I think protests in the future, everyone should point and laugh instead of yelling or chanting. MUCH more embarrassing to the fools

(9,760 posts)Everyone in the town where the Nazis march could shun them. Maybe we could do experiments with each method. I'm sure there will plenty of opportunities while the Liar in Chief is still POTUS.

The big problem is the ones without the swastika, who basically have the same ideas anyway.

(10,721 posts)They bash "identity politics" and promote the economic anxiety myth. Absolute foolishness. Forget about trying to win back so-called Reagan Democrats and Trump voters. Focus on inspiring the base, reach out to those who don't vote, and fight back against voter suppression and gerrymandering. Speak forcefully against racism, sexism, xenophobia and all forms of oppression.

Seeing a handful of them now pop their beer guts out of a Chrysler minivan doesn't seem as intimidating. they just look like children playing dress up.
