If you look at the planet for the billions of years and how it developed, it did just fine before us really. Sure there were disasters and evolution, but that is the way of the universe. Surely there must be other planets with creatures and environments unlike us. The universe is so vast we probably will not be able to find these places in the right time frame.
And the planet would just fine after us. Over time all of our pollution and evidence of our presence will fade. Whatever evolves after us will do just fine until the sun eventually destroys the place.
When you look at what have been doing to the place what I have just said should be really obvious.

(35,433 posts)Take away it's ugly American history and its narrow-minded culture, and just look at it geographically, and it's one of the most beautiful places on the entire planet. The Mississippi river is a wonder to behold.

(51,550 posts)The Mississippi delta was an eden. We fucked it all up, not only with the ugliness and hate, but toxic oil pollution that has killed plant and animal life and caused huge swaths of bayous to literally disappear. It reminds me of what people are doing to the rain forests.

The earth will shake us off like a bad case of fleas.

(2,541 posts)I saw George Carlin do this bit. My initial reaction was that he was saying Climate Change was not real and I was kind of taken back by that coming from him...but I eventually caught up and realized he had already written off the human species and that Earth would heal and be just fine...until the Sun reaches it anyway.
He is absolutely right Earth will be fine.

(2,541 posts)Life on other planets. To think that we are the only planet that life has achieved a foothold on is almost inconceivable to me. Given the size of the observable universe and the enormous number of Galaxies with billions of stars in each of them even with the Great Filter theory the odds are still in lifes favor.

(53,987 posts)This used to be just a clump of some bullshit rocks. Now it's got FOUR FUCKING FACES ON IT!!! Can nature do that? I think not!!
And this boring old hill used to just end at the top with some typical trees and maybe like an eagle's nest or some bullshit like that. Now it's got a big dude on it and he's like fanning out his arms and shit like he wants to feel the breeze or say "I love you this much" to his grandma or hug her or something. Try waiting for some dumb tree to grow like that. Never gonna happen!!
Or check this shit out! This used to be a couple of boring mountains, pretty much points up tops and full of bunnies & snakes all the way down--like every other goddamn mountain on the planet. Yawn. But now... GODDAMNED NOW!!... it's all flat and you can put like 14 motherfuckin soccer fields right on top of it. No sale on the human-bashing, amigo. Nature just doesn't do the shit WE can do!!
