It's a push poll, framing the possibility of ending the event as a referendum on Wolf's performance. Orsino May 2018 #22
Shouldn't we save "DU that poll" for when we agree, like civil rights or R vs D elections? Bucky May 2018 #7

One evening is plenty. I had no idea this dinner ran on for days at a time.

Yes, any of them still eating should finish up dessert and skeedaddle.

Now, onto the local Kiwanis Club... shall we decide when and how they may gather for meals?

The fact that it it pissed off so many GOPers and members of the press means it was spot on. If the truth offends you, by all means avoid it.

I simply am astounded at how many people overall, even here, are getting the vapours over this. It must be an age thing. Nobody remotely my age my age (23) that I have talked to or seen elsewhere gives a fucking toss about Wolf's jokes in terms if it being offensive. Hell, she was too nice!

Fuck Trump, fuck any fuck who fucking enables his white nationalist arse. Fuck Sanders, she is a huge piece of shite.

I voted No. We should preserve the institutions that preserve the remains of our democracy until a loyal American is back in charge of the White House.

But I can imagine a fellow DUer disagreeing with me, and that's cool, but we'd just be cancelling out each other's vote

I’ve always thought it was a stupid tradition and inconsistent with a free and press. So how am I meant to DU this poll? Jusr because this years event happened to provide a platform for criticising Trump doesnt mean that the tradition should have started in the first place.

Nobody will even know if it still exists if there is no comedian. They should probably continue the award ceremony for scholarships and stuff but nobody will watch. They didn't have the onions to point out first amendment in their statement. They should be screaming about it at every chance just like NRA does about second amendment.

Any limiting of free speech is just another attack on freedoms of a Democracy, so absolutely no. If others don't want free speech, let them move somewhere else. Free speech , and the free press are bedrocks for our country, and without them it spirals towards corruption quickly, like its done in Russia from Putin. They don't want any accountability for their crimes against the American people.

felt this way all along.

Whatever rationales that people may have for it, the biggest thing is does is strengthen the inside the beltway, elitist mentality.

See - David Gregory doing that stupid dance with Karl Rove.

For as long as speakers to power are telling uncomfortable truths there, and press and leaders are expected to be there, I think it does some good.

Now, that good might be outweighed by all the coziness and glad-handing among journalists and the people who are supposed to fear journalists. I dunno. Could be we have our answer in the WHCA's apparent willingness to hobble the event with some sort of equal-time apologist for abusers of power.

Next time we will elect a Dem and they will certainly have a sense of humor.
In the meantime continue to let Trump look like a turd in a punch bowl.
