Fox News Panel Mocks March Trump Tweet Hitting NY Times For 'False Story' on Legal Team Shakeup

by Jon Street | 1:47 pm, May 2nd, 2018

There’s always a tweet. Only this time, even conservative pundits on Fox News are pointing out the irony.

After the New York Times reported Wednesday that one of President Donald Trump‘s lawyers, Ty Cobb, is retiring, a Fox News panel called attention to one of Trump’s previous tweets in which he stated his “full confidence” in Cobb.

Further, as the Washington Post‘s Aaron Blake noted, Trump previously said in a tweet that he would not hire Emmett Flood, the attorney who will now reportedly replace Cobb. Flood also represented former President Bill Clinton during his impeachment proceedings.

The irony of the president hiring the attorney who too not long ago he said would not hire was not lost on reporters and pundits alike, including Fox News panelist Katie Pavlich who appeared Wednesday on the cable network’s show, Outnumbered.
