BREAKING: NBC News Issues Major Correction, Michael Cohen Was Not Wiretapped

NBC News announced a major correction to a report out Thursday. The original report claimed that federal investigators had wiretapped Trump lawyer Michael Cohen’s phone calls. The correction stated that sources told NBC News investigators were monitoring the calls, but not actually listening to their contents.


“In part of that reporting we said one of those phone calls was between a phone line associated with Michael Cohen and the White House,” he continued. “Now, three senior U.S. Officials are telling us it was not a wiretap. Instead it was what is referred to a pen register.”



“That means it is a log of phone calls that were made from a specific phone line or specific phone lines.”

The initial report held that investigators obtained a court-ordered warrant to wiretap Cohen’s phones “several weeks before” FBI agents raided the lawyer’s home and office in New York and seized documents related to his work for Trump and dealings with porn star Stormy Daniels.

If they collected meta-data, they had names and numbers of everyone that talked to or from Cohen's phones, right?

They did not listen to any conversations but they still had the names and numbers.

They would not have the actual voice recordings, but most of everything else.
