I miss his quite calm. I miss a sense of peace. I miss his family. Good souls, beauty inside and out. They brought dignity and honor to our White House. Such a class act.
There was so much laughter and joy.
They gave our WH a little soul and a lot of magic.
So many children.
Heart and Soul
Beautiful
Loved and beloved.
Our President.
And in the end...
Say what you wish. He and his family have inspired future generations.

(31,657 posts)Obviously they have a sincere love for all Americans. And it's obvious how much they love each other. They love and enjoy life. They love engaging with people from all walks of life. They are quite hip looking, too!
Compare to that miserable lawless creep who squats in the Oval Office now, and his sour faced spouse who looks like a hostage, and the atmosphere of of fear and hate that they perpetuate.

Be so very proud of what we had with him and his family. Do not look at the loss, he created a future of hopes and dreams for so many of us. It will live on, mcar. It will live on. Truth. The Obamas are not yet done with us.

(6,831 posts)It is a great book. It starts out with Obama as a junior senator, in his stark, windowless office in the basement, and runs to his last day in the Oval Office. There are pictures of tough times and happy occasions, pictures of his family. Souza captured great moments. By the end of the book, you KNOW that Obama loved babies. Can you just imagine what a terrific grandfather he will be ?
My favorite picture is of little 5-year old Jacob Philadelphia. His father, Carlton, former USMC, on staff to the White House National Security Council, on the last day of his two-year stint. He brought his wife and two sons in to meet the President. Little Jacob had just one question for the President. "Does you hair feel like mine ?" Obama said, "Why don't you see for yourself ?" and bent down for the child to touch his head. The expression on Jacob's sweet face is one of surprise, as if to say, "Wow, just like me."

(7,566 posts)as I looked at each picture.....President Obama was an educated, intelligent man......a family man with a beautiful wife and two gorgeous daughters, He was surrounded by intelligent people in his cabinet and had many friends. I miss him and his family so much.
Instead we now have a dufus, unstable, pathological liar in the white house who has NO friends even if he sold his soul to the devil to deal for a friend.

(5,807 posts)He could never get the love, respect and admiration we feel for Barack Obama and his wonderful family. They were REAL. When they laughed, we laughed. If they cried, we cried. He was a true leader who cared as much for us as we did for him. It will take a long time before we see the likes of a genuine person to lead us the way he tried to lead. My biggest regret is that the Congress did not support him or get behind him as they should have. The things they could have accomplished together would have been amazing. But the shame is on them. He did his part to try to make us safe and be proud of him and our country. And I will miss him always. May whatever life holds for all of the Obamas be good and bring them health and happiness.

(11,882 posts)What a nice way to start the morning seeing President Obama and his family. We were so lucky to have had such a great person and family in the White House representing the American people. They are such a class act, and so smart , and so down to earth, and unlike now they are the most loved and respected family, so thanks for the great way to start this morning before all the chaos, and corruption is further exposed today.

(15,499 posts)as much as I agree with everything posters have said on here about this amazing President and his family, I am thinking about the future. It's great to always remember this amazing time in our history, but as Democrats we need to start thinking about where we can find the next Obama. We need to have sincere, caring, intelligent candidates to put up for President and Vice President for 2020. We can't keep looking backward and waxing nostalgic without looking forward and finding future leaders.
We can never let this happen again - this nightmare that we have in our White House now and the GOP Congress who do not have the nation's best interest in their hearts. It is a stain on our republic what happened in 2016 and every one of us needs to concentrate on fixing the problems with our election processes so that no foreign government can ever interfere again, no one party can gerrymander districts to suit that party, no one in the Democratic party stays home on election day because their preferred candidate didn't win the primary, and on and on. This is what we need to focus our attention on.
What the GOP did to President Obama was abhorrent and was a detriment to the good people in this country who truly want to see us move forward and take up the mantel of being the world's leaders once again.
That brought tears to my eyes.

(32,640 posts)If he appeared to get upset at all, he would have been dismissed as one of those "angry black men." The Right wing FUROR over the report he slapped a table while talking to Boehner was unbelievable.
And he knew when to let his sense of humor shine, and when the gravitas of the office was neccessary.
There may be those who say it would be "refreshing" to have someone in office that will say, "Kiss my ass" or drop a mic during official duties, or get aggressive in the media like Avenatti does, but he understood that others would indeed do that for him.
God, how I miss the respect for intellect, the arts, education and the basic dignity of human beings that the Clinton and Obama White Houses brought us.
I feel now like I did after 9/11, like we are never going to have that again.
