In the Illinois legislature.

Are Rs really this stupid? Or do they just use the stupid to get their base going knowing they will never know true from false to begin with?

at least when it comes to politics, they reject the notion of objective truth, and therefore any objectively false statement is neither a lie nor stupidity.

instead, they listen to their authority sources -- foxnews, hate radio, donnie and other republican leaders -- for the buzzwords and catchphrases and soundbites of the day. those are the "facts" in their worldview. any grounding in objective reality might be a small plus, but it's hardly even relevant.

the "lies" in their worldview are any statements that contradict what their authority sources have handed down as "fact". in other words, when reality-based people point out objective facts that contradict their soundbites, they think *we* are the liars.

it's really f*cked up.

sadly, it's hard to break through to a completely different worldview without extensive deprogramming.

Their reality is not dependent on any actual events occurring within a measurable timeline, or on anything that’s objectively quantifiable. It’s whatever they want it to be— and it’s continuously shifting, depending on the whims of “authority sources.”

It’s very weird: the winner of this protracted struggle gets to “define” reality.
