Iran wants nukes because their goal is hegemony in the area.
We are still the primary obstacle standing in their way.

Other countries need to stay with the deals and say ,"Fuck you Moron, we will carry on without you". He did it out of spite for Obama and the entire planet knows it. This and the climate/Paris agreement will continue without us.

Sanctions only work when the West and Asia are united. Europe disagrees with Cheeto. Cheeto also allows more influence for Russia and China. Epic foreign policy failure by the US.

But there are some key differences from 2012 that make it less likely that the United States will be able to repeat the success it had last time it targeted Iran’s oil exports, when it knocked more than 1 million barrels a day out of the market. Most importantly, European and Asian countries that buy Iran’s oil aren’t enthusiastic about joining Washington in putting the squeeze on Tehran, because they see Iran as continuing to comply with the deal.

If everyone ignores the US sanctions than the US, both figuratively and literally, loses its place as a world super power and trump is painted into a corner to relent or start a war with the world to enforce the sanctions.
