My dear beloved father, a career diplomat and ambassador, is probably turning over in his grave right now. My dear God in heaven, what a dumb and dangerous so-called "president" we have! A friend of mine in Taos told me, right after the start of the Trump presidency, that if a problem has more than two moving parts, it's too much for Donald Trump. And now, I really believe it!

Let's see, of his national security team, all of them were advising Trump to stay in the Iran deal - except one - his new national security adviser, John Bolton, who is all for bombing Iran. So, Trump definitely did not listen to the consensus of his advisers.

There seem to be only two reasons that I can fathom that would provide an explanation for why Trump decided to pull out of the Iran deal. And they might be fused into one in Trump's sick, twisted mind.

The first is the most simple and straightforward: Obama did it, so I gotta undo it. It's his holy KKK mission to do everything he possibly can to undo Obama's legacy, piece by piece - regardless of the consequences.

The second is neck in neck with the first in terms of its priority: With the Mueller and Michael Cohen investigations closing in on him fast, a good ole war - or even a bad war - heck, just any kinda war - is the most powerful distraction from these investigations, and may be the only thing that Trump feels could possibly derail any mounting tide of public opinion towards his impeachment or removal from office. Heck, they might play a phony "support the war, be a patriot" card as a hedge against a possible blue tsunami in the November midterms. Trump is such a malignant narcissist that he would gladly wreck the whole world just to save his sorry little ass. Joe Biden's designation of this as a "manufactured crisis" is spot on. But it's the crisis to save the Trump presidency.

I wouldn't be surprised if Trump took us all into another "shock and awe" fiasco in about a month - if a repeat of the war of Iraq in Iran is necessary to save his failing presidency, then so be it, no matter how many lives are lost on both sides, no matter how much of the world stability and economy is wrecked. Whatever it takes. And the shock and awe could come even sooner, especially if Mueller hands down some new indictments in the next week or so.

Our three closest allies and their heads of state - Germany, France and Great Britain - all tried to talk Trump out of this colossal blunder, but failed. Apparently, they didn't realize how deeply committed Trump was to this course of action. I was surprised to learn that Russia was part of the Iran deal - but it seems like Russia didn't try to persuade Trump to stay in the deal, or probably Trump would have. I suppose that Putin was just happy enough to see crucial Western alliances being broken and estranged. And as for Israel, Netanyahu and his war hawks now have their military surrogate and patsy solidly in their pocket, and at the ready.

With this total fraud and sham of a "president", it's not about Iran or its nuclear program, it's not even about war or peace - it's all about TRUMP.
