'Fire him today': Viewers demand MSNBC drop Hugh Hewitt after unethical favors from Scott Pruitt

MSNBC viewers on Tuesday threatened to boycott MSNBC if the network does not fire conservative commentator Hugh Hewitt after a report revealed that he had received special favors from embattled EPA chief Scott Pruitt.

Politico reported on Monday that Pruitt “placed a polluted California area on his personal priority list of Superfund sites targeted for ‘immediate and intense’ action after conservative radio and television host Hugh Hewitt brokered a meeting between him and lawyers for the water district that was seeking federal help to clean up the polluted Orange County site.”

New York Times reporter Michael Barbaro pointed out the ethical problems with MSNBC continuing to allow Hewitt to defend Pruitt on the air.

Um, it's not okay for a cable news contributor to ask the EPA administrator for favors like this and still be on TV talking about him. At. All. CC: @MSNBC https://www.politico.com/story/2018/05/07/pruitt-california-cleanup-hewitt-meeting-521215

I wouldn't have guessed he'd know what channel this is on - but I forgot he used to watch Morning Joe.

Hewitt owns "TownHall.com", an awful right-wing whinefest. Anything he hosts I avoid like the plague. I even turn the channel when he is a guest. They could put a robot in his chair to spew GOP talking-points and it would be more personable.

They don't come any creepier. Thanks for the explanation. I'm surprised that they keep him on, especially now. And I can't imagine he has an audience. People tune in at that hour because they're looking for news and/or waiting for Joy Reid.

I already limit myself to no more than 10 minutes a day of cable noise Infotainment, so it doesn’t matter much to me who they put on or what they discuss.

It really is just self serving Infotainment segments between the ads for big pharma, chair lifts and Medicare supplement insurance.

everyone foolish enough to believe him. Of course, he should never have been hired. And Pruitt also reportedly found a way to give Hewett's son a job at the EPA. So not disclosing his relationship with Pruitt when he praised and made excuses for him seems to have been just the one cockroach too many.

Hewett lives in Orange County, but don't know beyond that what interest he has in accelerated clean-up of the Orange County North Basin, which is polluting the drinking water of millions. It wouldn't be unfair to imagine one probably exists.

MSNBC should be getting rid of Hewitt because he's like watching paint dry. Boring, boring, boring. I can't figure out how the guy ever ended up in any kind of media.
