Does all the money that's being paid to Michael Cohen rise to the level of bribery to Trump?

Will investigators be able to tie the money directly to Trump? If so, that would be grounds for impeachment.

The President, Vice President and all civil officers of the United States, shall be removed from office on impeachment for, and conviction of, treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors.

The basic pattern seems to be:

Step 1: People give money to Cohen.
Step 2: Trump does something for the people who gave the money to Cohen.

The assumption seems to be that the missing step is where money goes from Cohen to Trump (or the Trump Org, or some other vehicle).

The overlooked possibility is that Cohen has some other mechanism, aside from the payment of money, to get Trump to do things such that, if Cohen suggests Trump should do X, then Trump does X.

The rest is left as an exercise for the reader.

but the Senate still has to convict to remove him... and I don't see it happening.

He might resign... and maybe he will simply not run again... but removing him before the 4 years are up is a long shot.

impeachable offense. Prosecutors would need to prove an underlying crime — like accepting bribes. Of course, a lot of people still would support him in spite of even that. But I would thing that bribery plus obstruction would make impeachment a little more palatable to the American public.

really wouldn't care if he shot someone on 5th Ave (for them, preferably Hillary).

they make up about 50 percent of the republican "base"... they love this asshole, precisely because he is an asshole, they love every insult, every over the top politically incorrect thing he says.

The repukes in office dare not cross them if they don't want to be primaried. Even if it means that not enough "sane" repukes will come out to vote for them in a general. Witness Roy Moore.

So Mitch and the gang will not vote to convict. Even if Mueller has photos of Cohen taking bags of bribe money to the white house to give to Trump. I'm convinced the base simply doesn't care. They don't care about Trump properties making money from foreign diplomats trying to curry favor with the President, they don't care that their "ordained by God to be President" was fucking around with Playmates and Porn Stars while he wife had just given birth to his son, they don't care that his son-in-law was selling citizenship promises to rich Chinese if they only buy a condo from him, they don't care that his cabinet members are taking bribes from the industries they are supposed to be regulating.

They don't care.

To them WE are the enemy. So long as he thumbs his nose and gives US the finger, they are fine with him.

and enough repukes in the Senate are more frightened of them than they are patriots who want to see a deplorable awful bribe taking idiot asshole removed from office.
