It's really simple. If you love this country, you hate the Russian interference.
And you hate anyone who colluded, or allowed the collusion, with Russia.
Any foreign country trying to influence our elections would be terrible, but a country run by a violent, corrupt oligarch like Putin gaining influence over the president and an unknown number of congressmen is horrendous.
The U.S. did this once, or something similar. Kermit Roosevelt helped bring about regime change in Iran, by stirring up dissatisfaction toward Mossadegh, deepening divides in society.and using media and paid-for editorials to persuade the public to become alarmed and angry. Iran wa a pretty strong, modern, democratic, d then it wasnt. Then it fell into the hands of religious fundamentalists.
It was done to us. Russia flooded the Facebook media with messages, and deepened the divides. Civil society is fragile right now. Im not sure we wont have a society in chaos or violence in the streets when the denouement plays out.
We might need an awakening of authentic patriotism, not empty symbols and slogans, but a resurrection of the appreciation of self-governance and free speech and voter responsibilities.
Are the wealthy people who funded this anti-American project cast out from polite wealthy society? Or now that wealth is so global, does it no matter to them if they were?
