It could, and probably would, be interpreted as merely an opinion, since I doubt Giuliani intended to say Avenatti was literally in the business of managing prostitutes (whatever you might think of porn stars). Also, because Avenatti has become so involved in the public presentation of the case, he would be considered a public figure, meaning he'd have to prove that the comment was made with actual malice even if the comment was technically defamatory.
