there was no such thing as an "illegal" immigrant back then; immigration wasn't restricted at all prior to the Page Act of 1875, and then further by the Immigration Acts of 1882 and 1891.

And if those first generation immigrants found it hard to completely assimilate, their kids have embraced American life, mixed it with their family's traditions and made us better as a country.

Kelly is afraid that immigrants will change American culture and maybe we won't enjoy another St Patrick's day parades, or go to Oktoberfest, and Cinco de Mayo would end, no more Chinese New Year celebrations or Mardi Gras.
