(318 posts)It seems to me that Donald Trump "The Candidate," should still be held accountable for his, and his campaign's actions.
I'm not a lawyer, but isn't waiting to be president, and being president two different things?

Whats maddening to me is a lot of people are just oblivious to whats going on. When does it hit the collective consciousness that this is some very serious shit?

(15,682 posts)posted about Rosneft. It is the reason, the only reason, Tillerson was hired. The job he was supposed to do disappeared when Obama added additional sanctions for the election tampering and Flynn was fired. The maggot kept him on until Putin gave him permission to let him go. That's the way I saw it.

I also want to see how Cohen as the RNC's Chief Finance Chair likely funneled money to the RNC and Ryan, McConnell and the rest of the crooks gets nailed for that too.

Possible Bombshell Links Between Trump, Qatar, Christopher Wray, Rosneft, Putin & Steele Dossier
~
Today, President Trump announced that he is nominating Christopher A. Wray as the new FBI director. It just so happens that Wrays law firm, King & Spalding, represents Russian oil company Rosneft. Rosneft is owned mostly by the Russian government, and coincidentally or not, was also named in the Christopher Steele Dossier.

(11,560 posts)...is the most vigilant, knowledgeable and, for the most part, civil entity of its kind, in my experience.
That being said, do you think it's possible that the people here are becoming numb...jaded...from the near-daily assault on dignity, integrity, even credulity? Obviously, I have zero insight into how you, you or you are taking this news, but I feel this should be setting off MUCH louder alarms and flashing MUCH brighter lights in my brain.
And, still and all, I am pretty damned alarmed, let me tell you. I can't quite capture my thoughts on this as accurately as I'd have liked. I hope my point at least makes some sense.

(7,220 posts)our outrage so that it does not take us down. I have to take long breaks from the news here and there, so the sheer enormity of the degradation we all suffer from, doesn't spiral into full-on depression.
Checking in here from time to time gives a sense that there are indeed decent people in the world. For that I am grateful.

(47,285 posts)They never even tried to keep a low profile! Everything was so in-your-face and pretty amateurish, it is amazing how much they have gotten away with. If this was a novel or a movie, it would be considered too ludicrous to be taken seriously.
I always thought that if someone took the world down, they would be granted very evil, but also extremely intelligent and devious. The world is being destroyed by clowns and idiots! What does that say about the rest of us?

(318 posts)I think I have an answer, but it's not pretty.
My house is 2000 dollars ahead for the first time in 6 years. Both of our cars are past 200 thousand miles.
My youngest gets to do horse-camp. Horse camp will be the only thing we will spend our "mad-money" on this year. It will cost 135 dollars. Her "other" dad will drive her there. It's the best that he can do. His house is under water.
Point being, we all do what we can. But, as long as the Republican Mafia are in charge we are just going to make the best of things. It's not that people don't want to be active. Some of us are just too busy holding on to the side of the bowl. Tiny joke, I bake for a living. I am awake when most are not.
My spouse works at least 70 hours a week. Our, "Golden Hour", is 430 am til 530 am. I make her coffee and send her on her way and say, "have fun storming the castle!"
Now, I have to make muffins.

(47,285 posts)I can look back at times in my life when I was barely aware of what was going on in the world, as I was living day-to-day just trying to raise children on my own, often barely surviving. The world of politics, current events, and government seemed so removed from my small life. There were times when I didn't even have a television or access to a newspaper.
"What does that say about the rest of us?" is actually a very board question and I include my own periods of apathy in there. What concerns me the most are the people who watch Fox News, listen to right-wing radio, and read tabloids to stay "informed". I've known people like that throughout my life (before Fox News), but they had no interest in politics and didn't vote. Many of them were pretty decent people and often good neighbors, before people like Sean Hannity or Rush Limbaugh started to play on their fears and insecurities, encouraging their hatreds, not always a hard thing to do.
Then there were the Evangelicals and Born Agains I've known. Once again, though they could be exhausting in their zeal and desire to save the world, they were often good people. They weren't interested in politics, that was much too worldly for them. Politicians hadn't yet reached out to them, fostering distrust and fear in order to garner more votes, making promises they'd never keep in the process.
So as I look back at the different decades, the people I've known, and the changes I've witnessed, I can see a perfect storm building. I'm really not sure what any of us could have done to change it. In hindsight, there are things I may have done differently, but others probably not. Who can say? I suppose I really became hyper alert after the 2000 presidential election and 9/11. Not only was I more motivated, I had more time, the Internet, and cable news.
I am retired now and I have time to ask questions, make observations, and seek answers.

(4,030 posts)Dont forget to add onto the pile of corruption and emolument clause infractions the $500M that the unpopularly elected leader of the free world just received from the Chinese government to put up a hotel. All he had to do was break the rules again and give the Chinese phone conglomerate a pass on sanctions, which by the way, were put in place for a reason.
Its bad enough that all of this is happening with no repercussions whatsoever from the party that claims to own the Constitution, or whatever they want to label themselves these days, but to flaunt it in our faces is ever more proof of the dire situation we are now experiencing.
