Oh the feels - First Look At Murphy Brown on CBS

As we move toward the series' 30th anniversary, the revival will offer fans a look at how Murphy Brown (Candice Bergen) tackles the current state of cable news, clickbait, and a very different political and cultural climate. https://www.cbs.com/shows/murphy-brown/ Original cast members Faith Ford, Joe Regalbuto, and Grant Shaud will also reprise their roles as Corky Sherwood, Frank Fontana and Miles Silverberg, respectively. In addition, actor Jake McDorman will go head-to-head with star Candice Bergen (Brown) as her son, Avery, a millennial journalist who followed in his mother's headline-making footsteps. However, the traits they have in common—like a competitive spirit and quick wit—might be the same things that cause friction between the two. Watch this Fall on CBS.

This show... this show is definitely going to be the contrast to Roseanne. Seeing so many flashbacks here reminded me why I loved it so much and just how much of the national conversation it became a part of. I'm excited to see how they handle things this time around, especially with a certain VP.

The stuff with Quayle alone made it worthwhile.

was the first time PeeWee Herman did a guest spot on Murphy Brown. I don't think I've seen it since it aired though so i wonder if it holds up...at any rate, I have nothing but love for this show and will watch from day 1.

Too many are making me feel my ages. The realization that it DID run ten seasons only made it worse!

I watched the entire series in reruns and it was even better than I remembered. Unfortunately, it did make me feel my age, as the 1980s and 1990s seem like just yesterday.

I liked him a lot. He's 81 and may not be in great health, but i hope he does have at least an occasional appearance.

https://www.sfgate.com/entertainment/the-wrap/article/Murphy-Brown-Revival-Will-Charles-12709890.php

Candice Bergen (Murphy Brown) Faith Ford (Corky Sherwood), Joe Regalbuto (Frank Fontana) and Grant Shaud (Miles Silverberg) are all set to reprise their original “Murphy Brown” characters when the present-day revival reaches CBS next season — but what about Charles Kimbrough, who played veteran news anchor Jim Dial?

The 81-year-old actor will not be a series regular, a person with knowledge of the production told TheWrap. However, producers plan to bring the Dial character back through a guest-starring role for Kimbrough. That’s one of the many surprises creator Diane English has planned for next season.

I wonder if former VP Dan Quayle will be watching.

Back in the day, I worked with CBS, wrote the TV listings for the shows for the newspapers and Murphy Brown was one of "my" shows. When I heard this was coming back, I was going over in my head who would be available to return - so many are now gone. So this answers my question - and it looks like another winning series!

My favorite episode was probably the one where Murphy accidentally cat-napped Socks! She had been banned from the Bush I White House and was hoping to be granted access again under President Clinton. Her first visit there had gone well and she was driving home, congratulating herself, when she suddenly heard a "meow" from inside her car...

Reunions and remakes seem to be all that there is anymore. It's pathetic. It can never be as good as the original, and only serves to cheapen its memory. Hell, even ABBA has recorded a new song, after turning down a $1 billion offer with exactly this argument less than two decades ago.

Is there not one original idea left in this world?
