No man is an island... not even the "mentally ill" who do mass shootings

We need to start looking at the “lone wolf” as the end result, the ultimate distillation, of several problems in our society.

We abhor the mass shooter, but they are “us”.

They are our militarized culture - They are the War on Drugs, they are the War on Christmas, they are the War on Terrorism. They are “Get your gun and go out and destroy the ‘other’”

They are easy access to guns, not just that, they are use that gun to kill.

In our history, how many times has violence been the answer? How many wars have we had? How many times has it been when it wasn’t last resort? How quick are we to dehumanize our own neighbors? Our fellow man? Slavery? Manifest Destiny? Lynchings?

I think it’s time to start saying it... the mass shooter is the “Exaggerated American”, they are us, they take our values regarding violence then multiply them and simply combine it with the easy access to firearms.
