And was confirmed by the first black U.S. female bishop, who was a best friend and high school classmate of my mother - Bishop Barbara Harris.

We heard Harris at the Cathedral. Quite a connection you have.

We were at the investiture of the previous PB, Katherine Jefferts Schiori.

Nice young brother did a fantastic job!

And yeah - my mom (who passed a few years ago) and Barbara had known each other since the '40s and Bishop Barbara had been active in the prison community as her ministry before she moved up the ranks.

Our church is extremely diverse, partly because of all the immigrants from former British colonies. Many African-Americans, too. Incredible community. We were married there almost 20 years ago. This service was a great blend of the traditional English and American elements.

was to London, England. November 1970. I was 8 years old and as the plane descended through the rain clouds at Gatwick, and we disembarked, the sun had come out! It was out much of the time we were there until near the end of the trip.

Did you see the look on Elton John's face? And the royals have sort of stunned looks. LOL

I think it is great!

I'm awake on accident, but that was a great sermon. And now a black gospel choir is doing Stand By Me?!

This is a royal wedding, but they're making sure Meghan's roots and community are present.

Loving the hell out of this.

I know nothing about this, read nothing about it, and had no intention to watch, but this is amazing on several levels.

It was all so emotional, dramatic and American. Heh.

I love this couple because it's so obvious they not only love each other but like each other.
