Sean Hannity Says School Shootings Not a Gun Issue: Authorities Need to Police Every Kids Social Media Postingsby Tamar Auber | 8:06 pm, May 18th, 2018
In the wake of the Santa Fe school shooting, Fox News personality Sean Hannity has called for authorities to police teens social media accounts but insisted that the shootings are not really about guns.
Speaking on Premiere Radio NetworksThe Sean Hannity Show on Friday, Hannity called for airport-style metal detectors and concealed carry security in every school to help keep kids safe. Then, after laying out his case for the need for screening to keep out weapons, he claimed it was not really about guns after all.
Its not a gun issue. Every time it happens, the worse its always a different gun, he said in audio posted by Media Matters, before conceding that you cant let mentally ill people have guns. Then, he proposed a novel plan to stop school shootings: monitor kids social media accounts.
Criminals dont obey the laws by their very nature, Hannity opined, We also have to have, every school district needs to have some person that monitors every kids social media postings, maybe they need two people. This is a reality now that theyre telegraphing what theyre going to do. Terrorists do it. These school shooters do it.

(4,066 posts)Of course inSannity is a tool. But he's such an obvious idiot that anyone can take down in a real debate.
He's basically proposing we give up the 4th Amendment in favor of the 2nd.
Up goes my blood pressure again.

(44,972 posts)In this case the shooter wasn't posting actual threats.
Just various images people find objectionable. Should that be illegal or grounds for arrest?

Republicans seem to be in the news all the time for fraud, stealing, sexual misconduct, you name it... Before I even read an article anymore about some politician breaking the law, I say to myself...is this a Democrat or Republican? Very seldom is it a Democrat.
Clean your own house, Hannity. I wouldn't be surprised if a few violations are exposed between you and that personal lawyer of yours. It will be interesting. Oh, yeah, I forgot...you only stuck a $10 bill in his pocket from time to time for advice on real estate. Gotcha!

(182,632 posts)Granted not all or even most (?) have social media accounts but some have many accounts. So lightbright think one person - perhaps a team of people - is going to monitor every social media account of every student in just this one county outside of Richmond?
There's the government intrusion element then of course you have teachers striking and marching to both get something close to adequate wages AND money into th classrooms.
Did he and Trump talk this over on their latnight pillow talk calls before he once again exhibited himself to be a complete moron?

(6,066 posts)It's all just argle-bargle to fill the airwaves and distract people while the can is being kicked down the road.
On edit: I'd add that anyone who has heard about the Hannity/Trump/Cohen connection and still considers Hannity worth listening to is a lost cause anyway.

(34 posts)So, auto accidents aren't really about cars, since it's always a different car. Didn't the GOP pass legislation allowing the
mentally ill access to guns? I agree with the contributor who said the Fourth Amendment is being sacrificed to prop up the
Second. Repubs love the mechanisms of repression because they like to degrade people. How about strip searches to get into
Walmart? Where Hannity and the Right are going is pre-emptive arrest based upon their dislike and distrust of the young
people they cannot and will not protect.

(146,262 posts)of all Conservative Republicans? Some of them are doing crazy things. Maybe they need close monitoring, too, eh? How about that?

(8,908 posts)There is only one true way to effectively address THE problem. Vote out the Republicans shills who are paid by the NRA to look the other way, and vote in Dems to take action to remove the instruments of death.
