She would have been so proud of both her boys. I told myself I wouldn't cry dammitt...

It was much more formal and religious, but I guess that's the Church of England and he whole legitimacy of the crown thing...otherwise, oMG

The song "Stand By Me" was totally fitting...


and when she came down the aisle, you could see them all awkward for a moment, it was too damn sweet

1. Yeah, I watched it too...

I remember getting up in the wee hours of the morning to watch Diana's. It was gorgeous! But it felt more formal and less spontaneous than today's wedding.

I wish them all the best too. They are a beautiful couple, smart and conscious of the good they can inspire and achieve.

I'm glad we can have such beauty in our world.

2. I got up at 3:30 in the morning to watch Diana.

It is so nice to be able to TiVo William's and Harry's.

I hated Diana's dress. It did not look like the sort of thing she would have chosen without much cajoling. I think she was out of her depth early on. She learned later, even though she was unhappy in her marriage.

Anyway, her later fashion choices were so much more suited to her figure and world stature. I always loved the way she looked. She is still missed.

10. I can't believe that Diana was only 19 at the time, just a kid. They threw her into the

deep end of the pool without much emotional support from anybody, especially Charles who was, what, 32 at the time? At 36, Markle has life experience and entered into this fully knowing the ramifications and life changes it will mean. Also, she's under no pressure to become a royal brood mare because Harry is so far down the line of succession now. They seemed very happy. I wish them both well.

3. I watched Diana and Charles also,

and if you look at it again it's so obvious that they were basically two strangers, not even remotely in love. Unlike William and Kate, and now Henry and Meghan. The difference is incredible.

And yeah, Diana's dress was awful. Awful.

4. Diana paid the price

for abiding by the family's previous old traditions of conducting relationships. Marry without necessarily knowing whether you would be compatible, then stay married and tolerate emotional abuse and infidelity.

She however paved the way for the new, more enlightened generation and way of doing things. And, the Queen deserves credit for recognizing the need for change and then loosening strictures thus enabling the new Royals to publicly enter into close relationships before marriage in order to know their potential spouses better.

5. Yeah. I watched it too.

Never did get any sleep til it was all over. Had a great time dishing via text with a good friend about the fascinators and other crazy hats. She’d set an alarm. I never went to bed. Left me feeling rather punchy all day, for lack of sleep, but who cares? It gave the world a breather for a few hours, and something nice, and uplifting to focus on, for a change.

Not a single mention of trump-ANYTHING, all morning long. Must have driven him nuts!

6. I watched it in Newcastle, England.

We’re visiting cousins here and not watching it was not an option. I enjoyed their comments and obvious pride in having their institutions still intact. Later in the day we joined a big family celebration complete with costumes, some of them poking fun at the monarchs. I’m happy that we got to be a part of it.

8. I watched it. Diana & Charles as well. And was in Englad for Princess Anne's.

The evolution of the Royals since the era of The Crown is almost mind blowing. Poor Margaret. Princess Anne's groom in 1974 was a love match between Equestrians. Still didnt last.

Here's to the couple who will start a family of activists!

7. So different from Charles and Diana's

seeing clips of their wedding now you can see how uncomfortable they were, you don't see any of the love that showed between Harry and Meghan.

It was a dichotomy between the vows and everything...the girl chosen as "new blood" vs the LOVE between her son and this woman. It was amazing,
