"Active shooter training" should not be a part of any school protocol.

The problem is allowing those who are not stable, capable, mentally coherent or other issues have access to weapons or guns. I understand that schools are doing what they can do, but the money that the NRA is giving to the elected officials (both parties) to block any legislation to stop the tragic death of the public who attend schools, movies, concerts, church services, or any public gathering. It is time to force those elected officials to make a decision to make changes with gun rights and the rights of the victims. It is the victims who loses the most important right to live!

As long as a society has both unstable people AND as many guns as people it will suffer 10s of thousands of gun deaths a year. You can't keep guns away from crazy folks when there's more than twice as many guns as adults in your country. It's just impossible.

And since no one is going to do anything about that, because no one in the country in a position of power is willing to take steps to remove guns, all you can do is limit the carnage.

And I support limiting the carnage.

But there's still gonna be carnage.

I felt it was very odd when my daughter started doing these drills in kindergarten (yes kindergarten) but then I realized it's better to have a plan than not too. They know what to do so that if it happens they aren't running around clueless.

Run
Hide
Fight

Sorry but you need a plan.

we need to have a society where we should not have to be trained for this. Yes, I am glad they are training them for everyone's safety. It is the way of life, but the government needs to do something before more of these shootings happen.

This is a choice we've made. We may not realize we made this choice, but until we choose differently, we're nothing but fodder for the NRA and its cabal of blood-gargling psychopaths.
