By John Cassidy
May 19, 2018

... People who knew the suspected shooter, a seventeen-year-old named Dimitrios Pagourtzis, said there was nothing particularly unusual about him ... Pagourtzis told police he used his father’s guns ... Last November, Devin Patrick Kelly, a twenty-six-year-old Air Force veteran with a record of domestic abuse and mental issues, shot dead twenty-six worshippers at the First Baptist Church, in Sutherland Springs, near San Antonio ... But the only way things will change in Washington, D.C., is if, come November, the voters elect a very different Congress.

“Prior to most incidents, other people knew about the attacker’s idea and/or plan to attack. In most cases, those who knew were other kids — friends, schoolmates, siblings, and others. However, this information rarely made its way to an adult.”

The majority of the attackers had difficulty dealing with loss or personal failures, or felt bullied, persecuted or injured by others. Many also attempted suicide ...

“You spend a couple minutes with people and you should make those couple minutes worth it … you should say nice things to them, you should ask if they are okay. You never know if it’s the last time you will see them” ...
